2008 V8 dual exhaust?

This truck is so quiet it is like a limo. pros and cons to a dual exhaust setup?
What options are avail? who has done this? power diff? mileage diff? ANy dif except sound? What is typ config? separate mufflers? common muffler?

Flow more air with a free flowing exhaust, flow more fuel. You'll want to consider better intake air as well. These are the concerns for all engines. I've done this with Harley with success. You'll make more power but use more fuel.

thats the loudest i heard.
i myself had a super 44 on a v6, it was louder than the magnaflow cat everyone had, i got tired of it and found a very good deal on a borla dual, and it quiet everything back down.

No offense to anyone here but I don't understand why anyone wants to make their vehicle louder. Any vehicle that has a modified exhaust system that is significantly louder than stock should consider the effect it has on their neighbors and others on the street who are subjected to the noise. That extra noise is not cool nor appreciated by the majority of people being subjected to it! Please think about it! Thanks!

Just cut the resonator off and replace it with a tip of your choice. It's not loud at all no drone at highway speeds. Just a little rumble at idle and when give it some throttle it sounds like a V8!

All I have to say it that if I like my car loud I can make it loud that's the great thing about America. Neighbors like it quiet I like it loud but it's mine so I get to decide. Doug thorley headers, urd o2 simulators, no cats, 2 into 1 flomaster 50 series muffler, and a side exit exhaust. Factory intake is more than sufficient. All of the above should wake it up a little and give it a nice sound too.

Unless you get rid of the three factory cats it's never going to have much 'sound' to it.

Most people in retirement homes don't mod cars. Try going there. Just a thought.

I wanted the borla duals but I could not locate one. so I went with magnaflow. its a little louder than I wanted.

definitely got better throttle response, put it on myself in about 20 minutes on my back, slight noise on the highway(depends how you drive), feels like I got a little more power(looses resonator). all stainless guaranteed for life.
 
It's very surprising how quiet these motors are. Not only through exhaust, but the motor itself, makes very little sound for an 8 cylinder in my opinion.

Personally I'm torn between keeping it quiet or adding a little sound.
 
I had straight pipes on my silverado 5.7L but had to keep 2 cats to stay EPA legal :) so I talked to my Midas buddy and it has to be a cat-back dual setup. So a 2 into one muffler, 2 out and either 2 on one side or tips bent at 45 at rear bumper. Still deciding on Flowmaster or Magnaflow or?
 
I've got both pipes flowing into one dual chamber Flowmaster 50 series with no resonators and the second set of cats cut of = one LOUD exhaust system. I wound up putting larger resonators back on and now it's perfect. Feels like it has a little more power and mpg's have stayed the same, around 16.5mpg mixed city and highway driving .

Yeah, this is the way to go, but very expensive. I have my thorley headers sitting in a box, just waiting to be put on.....

I am looking at getting thorley headers, Let me know when you get them install and how it sounds. are you getting exhaust as well? I want to get duals, but don't want drowning...
 
Drone is a product of multi-chambered mufflers (Flowmaster) if you go with a Magnaflow it will never drone, they are a straight through pipe...and they get a little louder after time.

It is not a traditional "loud" old school type sound but I think it fits well with the high Tech V8s..also sounds really good at Higher RPM when the Vtech rolls over..but caution you will become hyper-aware of every move your AT decides to make for you
