2012 t4r?

The one small change they should make in 2012 is to go back to the radio antenna in glass and get rid of the whip, they photoshop it out in all the promo pics because it's so godawful.

I have no idea what they were thinking with the fixed antenna. The Lexus doesn't have one. I know they were having reception issues but man, a mast fixed antenna looks like crap. They changed it on the Rav4 after two years so maybe we will see it gone in 2012.

Power Running Board is optional on Limited and SR5 trims
Tech Audio (Sirius XM Radio, USB Port, and Bluetooth) is now standard on SR5 and Trail trims
Display Audio with Entune is optional on SR5 and Trail trims; standard on Limited trim
Navigation with JBL iwll be optional on Limited trim

Looking forward to seeing the power running boards (guess they retract into the body?) and am pleasantly surprised to see Entune. Kind of surprised that they'd add it to the 4Runner before the mid-cycle refresh...

I'm hoping that the Display Audio with Entune on the Limited will include the JBL speakers. If not, hoping that the Navigation with JBL that's optional will also include Entune.

Hoping they change/add:

-push button start on all models (at least an option)
-turn signals on mirrors for TE
-get rid of mast antenna
-automatic back door closer (was this on 4th gen?)
-DAC on the TE

Also, I love rear window being able to roll down on 4runners, but I also am partial to a backdoor that opens top-half up, and bottom-half down (like my Blazer does) so one can sit on the bottom half for a tailgate. However, I think it would be a pretty challenging engineering feat though to combine a window that rolls down with a split rear door. Any ideas?

Only thing I can think of is you could have the window roll down into the bottom half, like when the two halves are shut, but it would have to have some lock-safety mechanism that wouldn't allow you to open the back unless the window was all the way up (otherwise you would bust your window). Just wishful thinking. Plus I guess the current window design already allows access to the back without opening the hatch in a similar way and people still use the pullout cargo tray to sit on. I will miss my tailgate though when I sell my blazer.

I don't have any pictures, but I'm pretty sure it was just a stock feature. You could roll down the window from inside the truck or using the key like the 4Runner, and once it was down there was a handle on the inside of the tailgate to lower it.

Oh I see what you mean, the window was the WHOLE upper half, rather than being inside of the frame of the hatch. That makes more sense now.

I think that would work nicely on the 4runner imo. Only problem I see is, if you want the whole hatch open, you would have to roll that window down everytime.

I believe they spring out to the sides in fact - you have seen Chitty chitty bang bang I presume? (It probably means underlit - I believe the 4th Gen ltd had something along those lines.)

Looking forward to a new radio, hopefully with legible display.

I would trade my '11 for a '12 if so. Probably get same colors and all, but don't want any retractable running boards.
