I pulled onto the road with the tires caked in mud and within 25’ they were totally cleaned out. I’m impressed.

I see that the BFG-81501 KO2 LT285/70R17 113Q BSW "C" class are selling via online retailer for $155 per tire
Is this a good deal to jump on? i haven't done too much research yet into tires and haven;t much thought about what i need from my tires, but these seem like decent all-around tires

I’m wondering how much a 1/2” difference in wheel diameter makes in mounting this size tire to a 7” vs 7.5” wide wheel.

I see what BFG recommends but how steadfast is that?

I opted to use my OEM 7” wheel solely because of OEM quality vs aftermarket, especially since I actually take my rig off road and beat my wheels and tires up. It was never about being cheap for me. The three tire shops I priced out for mounting didn’t voice a single concern with their systems and mounting up this tire. Nothing was ever flagged.

I went to a fourth shop to patch a tire with a nail in it and they also failed to mention one single concern about the width and tire size.

285 on a 7'' rim is going to pinch the bead in and crown the tire....at recommended inflation the center will wear quicker and the tire will wander. 8 to 9'' will cure this.

With the record rains, I figured I’d get out and find some mud to truly test these tires. All I can say is wow. I ran through obstacles, deep water and mud that should have created some serious issues but I breezed right through without a lick of drama. If you actually Off Road, get these.

I’ll ask again, what pressure you guys using? Read through the other KO2 thread but it’s for stock size or 275 E. I’m running 40 but I’m just not sure about long term wear.

I did the chalk test and I didn’t see much difference between 35 and 40

Went with the E rated (had the on my raptor and they were bulletproof) the KO2s are definitely a great all around tire! Just ordered them for the 4Runner today! Along with icon stage 2 and some method nvs in matte jet black, the tires look sweet though on ur rig, I also have the black and it’s a good visual!

Anyways, the sweet spot for tread contact seems to be 40 front, 38 rear. So far it seems to be the right balance for those still feeling it out.

Found a set of 285 load C complete take offs from a JLUR for 700$



Mounting them tomorrow, interested to see how they compare to the 265 wildpeaks I have now

^This was the EXACT move I made from the Wildpeak AT3W to these KO2 takeoffs. $700 is a good deal based on what I’ve seen.

I honestly liked my Falkens better. I haven’t had these long enough to see about the 20K mile performance degradation so we’ll see about that. I personally think these are overhyped but I also have no huge complaints about the KO2 as of now...I just wouldn’t buy them again.

And thanks TX_AG11. Those MK6 wheels were made for the Runner. Love em.

You’ll find no definitive number here...at least from what I’ve found which is why I asked.

If you look a few posts up, I’m finding perfect contact patches at 40 front, 38 rear. If I’m towing or loading down heavy I do 40 all around but that 2 pounds in the rear (insert joke here) makes a big difference.

Looks good! Are those the actual TRD wheels? If so, the 7” width isn’t in the recommended width for this size tire. You may get a bad ride, drifting, and bad contact patches on the tread. Ask me how I know...

This may not be a big deal to a lot of people but if you’re actually off roading and airing down, you’ll see a difference.
