285's? Or "Streched" 265's on offset rims?

I recently acquired some offset Mk6's off of MEMO_CAMPOS. I was told that wheels with a negative offset "stretch" your tire. Since I am trying to rid myself of these stock roller skate tires, my question is this. What would be the bigger difference between throwing on 285's or "stretching 265's on these wheels? Obviously if I can achieve the same effect with 265's vs 285's I would rather do that and avoid the hit on MPG/Power. Thoughts?

Offset has no affect on the stretch. The only thing that will matter is the width of the tire and the width of the rim.

I would unfriend whoever told you that. Offset has no bearing on anything to do with a tire. Even too wide a rim does not stretch a tire.

In the OPs defense it doesn't stretch the tire but provides a stretched look. It is commonly found on lowered cars running. Let's say 225s on 10" wide rims. That's the "hella flush" fitment he is thinking.

OP, your tire sidewalls will stretch to what wheel width you are running not your offset. Offset is the distance of the hub to center of the rim. A 0 offset will have the hub centered in the rim. Negative will push the rim out and poaitive will bring the rim in. 265s will only stretch on like 15-16" wide rims. Hope that clarifies some of it for you.
