35's on a 2014+

To assume that one lacks the mechanical ability, patience, or funds to tackle the project simply because I asked about it is pretty ridiculous. And for one to make an ignorant comment instead of lending advice just clutters up the thread with immature nonsense and speaks volumes to their personality.

Thanks to those who have directed me towards builds and links that could further provide the insight I'm seeking.

No one said you lacked any of those traits, we simply said if you have ask the answer right now is no. I see no ignorance except your own. Sorry your butt hurts.

I think the guys were saying your question was too general. Most people looking to go to that size already know there will be a lot of cutting and you probably would have gotten a better response if you had asked something like "How much of the front body mount will I lose" or "Will I need to roll the current fenders" or "Will I lose the whole pinch weld" or "What ratio will I need my gearing to be" or something like that. Good luck and post pics!

Those are all still questions though, and "if you have to ask, the answer is no," would still cover them.

Inferno, reading through a bunch of threads this morning you'd be one of the people on my ignore list. pretty damn sensitive you are.

anyway OP unless you just want it for looks then by all means get the sawzall out but it isn't going to be very functional without a lot of work
See if you can guess how many ****s I give about that.....I'll wait

I've seen one in person. 5th Gen, not a 14/15 tho. 35", re-geared and ARB air locked. It does have some fender work involved. Ask Nathan@The Gear Shop if you want more info.

Yeah, they did a good job on that one. The 35's actually look natural on there when it's done right. Took a hell of a lot of planning and fender well work to get there though. Not to mention, time and money! But hey, if you have the resources and you're handy with a grinder, cutter and welder you could easily do it yourself from what I've seen.

Hey no problem. I'll be here for a very long time to ruin your days ahead...enjoy and have a great Friday eve ;)
OK but make sure your mom doesn't catch you on the basement computer again. Oh and tell her I will be a little late tonight

Haha that's actually pretty good so I commend you on your use of orginality. See why can't everyone on here be more like you and be offensive right back at me and make things fun

****ing love you man

You guys are a little touchy over here in the 5th gen section aren't y'all? OP research is your greatest ally to avoid being blasted on these forums. If you post a thread that's been covered or is too broad of a question then you're just asking to be blasted and it'll discourage you from wanting to do what you asked about. Good luck!

There's a lot of sarcasm. A LOT OF SARCASM..... You have to read through it. Some of it is quite hilarious.

I just use the google machine. Type in "5th Gen 4Runner" in front of something specific. It always brings me back here.

I think 35s are a good idea. You don't need them though. Is there a reason? Here is my main point: 35s are big, heavy and BA! Perhaps you like the look. Idk. Your front end is still going to be the weak link and going to be even weaker the bigger the tire. I too like 35s, 37s, 40s... Wheel your ifs front hard enough to really need 35s and you have opened pandoras box. You are going to want to chop the fenders, cut the body mount as much as possible, lift as high as you can, get new gears (4.88 probably), go to full LT or SAS, put a front locker in while you have gears going in, perhaps do all the armor, replace the muffler to get more clearance, relocate the breathers, with the front locker, you probably want on board air and dual batteries. Might as well do some lights.

I think that is what it takes to do 35s. This is also why people responded the way they did. The answer is a full build to get 35s.

Want to buy my rig? :clap2:

Why does every thread turn into a pissing match. Anyway, 35s are difficult, but I think it does depend on what you mean by 35s....

First, easy to clear for street/ mall crawler use.... For offroad... you need a couple of things. Like bump stop extensions in the rear and an aftermarket style bumper in the front (relocation of the washer tank) along with a BMC + pinch weld chop and some UCAs that will let you get the wheels way forward plus wheels that are about 17x8 with a 0 to -10 offset.

Many 315 70 17 are measured around 34.4. I have 305 70 17 that measure 34.1 right now and I don't think I have any rubbing at all with SOME space to spare. Maybe a very slight rub at full lock and drop on the frame... but nothing that is noticeable on the trail, so far. I'm pretty sure I could get some 315s on there without any problems, especially if I ran Light racing UCAs. You can do way more with the alignment with those, but they are not very reliable for heavy off-road use. Not 100% sure though. They might grab the fender. I just know I'm good at 34.1 and quite frankly it is more tire than I need. Sort of makes most trails that are 5th gen compatible... boring. Also, re-gear to 4.56 is pretty much mandatory for tires that heavy.

IMO - if you want big tires do it right once and be done with it.

Every time I look at this rig it reminds me of the Predator
YOU TAKE THAT BACK!!!
marshal - my favorite 4r, hands down. I hope those fellas are able to fix it properly.

Thanks. I'll know for sure tomorrow when I pick it up. It's been a long time since I've gotten to saddle it. Tomorrow I'm going to work on getting the light bar fitted and tied to the high beams.
