3wbdriver's 2014 TE build thread.

In the second pic is that stock height with just bilstein shocks?

No. Unloaded with OME 885 2" fronts but set at 0 and Toytec Superflex 2" rear springs. The full list of mods is in post #1. I went with medium front springs to offset the bumper and winch weight. Basically 2" added front and rear.

I want to know if you replaced the Upper Control Arms with your lift. I want to do OME all around on my 2014 TE with KDSS. I didn't see anything listed. just wondering how the alignment went after the lift, and the spacers. Good looking rig!!

Thanks. I still have the factory UCA's in there. The alignment is out of spec as far as caster (~ 1degree) but the tire wear looks normal. She's a little darty in windy highway conditions, but I'm one of those idiots that actually likes to "drive".

I'm about to finish my 2nd tank of gas - and the 1st honest one for moderate temperatures - since installing the Magnaflow. Not sounding the drums for their virtues but the combination of CAI and larger exhaust does look like it is gaining me somewhere between 25 - 30 miles in overall tank range. In the high teens that I was getting any gain is appreciated. It does require a small but noticeably less amount of go pedal to achieve a given acceleration, it is less prone to downshift on upslopes in cruise control, and it upshifts sooner when topping them out. I really wasn't after more power as much as better mpg.

On another note, I have received permission to spend some of the tax return on a rear bumper so I have begun research. With that add on, and my reduced income, my build should be pretty much completed.

I'm looking to "complete" my lift in the next year (currently running 5100 all around - F: 1.75"/R: 1.5" spacer). I'm planning to go with OME springs all around, and will probably add UCA's to be safe.

Out of curiousity, why didn't you go with OME springs in the rear?

Fronts set at 0 w/OME 885 springs for 2" of lift
Rear Toytec 2" Superflex springs

I was helping another member "dispose" of his no longer used Toytec's. Had I bought new I was intending to get the SAW 1.5's. But I have no regrets.

I'm going to be very curious how your springs do with a new rear bumper. My ride is great with the SAW but they dropped 1/4"-1/2 so now I'm level, which means I might have some reverse rake loaded. I was thinking of going to either OME springs or superflex HD at some point this summer.

Time will tell. The Toytecs are the +10% ones so I'm hoping they'll do the job. If not it will be time for another pair. Surely the bare bones bumper I plan to get can't weigh more than 1 grown adult. And I wouldn't be too upset if the rear dropped 1" unloaded either.

I think the SAW are about the same spring rate, you'll probably be very happy with the height and ride. The ride is great, I just want more height back.

You wouldn't need it if you quit taking those dips at 50. Lol

Got places to be!

You decide which bumper you are going to get yet? The other thing I liked about the CBI was the turnaround time, literally I got it in 3 weeks from ordering.

They were quite comfortable when I had it but they did drop a bit when loaded, almost too much for me. I always thought they are too close to the toytec spec hence I went with the icon overland.

Narrowed down to CBI or SSS. Waiting to hear from Kevin on a price for the base model. CBI lead time is a factor, but I can save shipping by picking up the SSS myself. Still up in the air.

I appreciate the recommendation Magnetic4R, but that decision is a ways down the road.

Love this build, and now I'm looking at the Magnaflow for better MPG.

How is the Lone Star Jamboree? Contemplating going this year, and early registration just opened up.

Well worth the trip, but it's getting a little more crowded each year. I got the #10 spot this year, and it's the first time I've pre-paid.

If you get the Magnaflow I highly recommend a CAI also. I don't know if either will show any improvement without the other to compliment it. I know the CAI was installed during summer 2014, and it really didn't do anything but make more under hood noise when opening it up until I got the exhaust.

I did also pull the trigger and ordered a CBI bare bones rear bumper today. I hope to have it installed for Jambo.

Who put that hole there!!!??? I wish I'd thought to get a side shot. It was already pointing pretty hard downhill when it went in that hole. I had to use hands on both door frames to get out for the pictures. :wow:

On another note, my CBI bumper showed up today. Now I just have to find the time to install it. I hope to start on Saturday.

Installed my CBI bumper today. It took about 4 hours start to finish. I did all of the removal and cutting before I called a friend to help lift and fit the bumper. One quick final trim on the passenger side and it slid right in. There were zero issues with clearance on the side exiting Magnaflow exhaust. The rear end only settled about 1/4" so far. Test drive and measure later. Daddy needs a hot soak. :crutch::bathbaby:
