No, I said that most people lease these days, so people who have new Grand Cherokees are likely to not have them past 3 years. Of course there is also this thing called the used vehicle market. Someone will buy them and drive them, so yes of course it is important that they are engineered to not fall apart.

Again, who cares? If you lease for 3 years, the vehicle is under warranty. It will not cost anything out of pocket even if the thing falls apart the day you drive it home.
But in reality, graphs like that just amuse me. If the 4Runner has 1 problem per 1,000 vehicles and the Grand Cherokee has 2 problems per 1,000 vehicles, then the 4Runner is twice as good as the Grand Cherokee. But the odds of you or I having issues with either vehicle are still VERY small.

You can't have it both ways, Thai. Personally, I only buy new. Used cars aren't my problem. But for the record, you can often buy certified pre-owned vehicles with a warranty as good or better than the original factory warranty.

Jeep's certified pre-owned warranty is not like what you get from Lexus or BMW...so, NO, CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED WARRANTY FROM JEEP IS NO WHERE NEAR AS GOOD.

And no, i would NOT get a GX over a 5th gen. Why? You can't get 4runner's capability in the GX. Service costs are overpriced for the Lexus. I don't like luxury car...from a safety perspective (i am paranoid).
Now, will i ever get a Jeep? Maybe...but it certainly won't be the Highlander-on-heels (aka JGC)...it will be the Wrangler Rubicon with the new powertrain!

Well, to DocMT's credit, he would be dumping the JGC after 3 years/36k miles, whichever comes first...at a huge loss...but i am sure that he thinks that it is a good financial decision. Then, he can go out and buy another JGC, but a used one this time because the "certified used" warranty is EVEN better than the factory warranty (per him)!! Finally, he would be force to visit the junkyard every year to pick up parts that are falling off his used JGC...and life goes on.

DocMT has every right to waste his money on whatever POS he wants. Some people like buying a new car every 4-5 years; that's what GM and Chrysler bank on. What I'm really curious to know is why a guy that hates 5th gens spends so much of his time on the 5th gen forum? Trolling, perhaps?

^Since getting my 5th gen I have been amazed at how so many people (mostly on this site AND mostly 4th gen owners) are going out of there way to talk trash and hate on the 5th gen. I really dont get it. Just jealousy I guess? why else would someone go out of there way to be so negative about something that doesn't affect them?
I would have been more than happy to stay with Toyota if they didn't make the 5th gen so ugly. Sorry, but I just can't own a vehicle with styling that doesn't appeal to me.
My 4th gen only has 42,000 miles on it and it's still looks and drives like it did the day I drove it off the lot in 2004. So I'm not in a hurry to buy anything right now. But if I had to buy another SUV tomorrow, it would definitely NOT be a new 4Runner.
I might just hold on to my 4Runner until the 6th gen 4Runner gets here. If Toyota makes it good looking, I'll surely consider it as a replacement for my 4th gen. I'm expecting them to go unibody and IRS for sure, but that doesn't really bother me either as long as it retains most of its capability.
