So another road trip around the USA, other crazy adventures happens.
This one oviously involves the 4runner, hence the post in this forum. Let me tell you, the 4runner is one solid truck. Thanks to it, it saved me and my friend from being wounded at all, which would not have been the case if we would have been in those newer smaller SUV IMO. (At least, my luggages would have teared my head off)
Los Angeles, I was stopped, in a traffic caused by a 3-to-two lane merge, talking to my friend sitting beside. Got rammed from behind by someone who felt like keeping going on. By the testimony of a witness that stayed after the accident, I got rammed at approx 70mph, guy hit the rear left corner of the truck with the right side of his car, and mostly hit the frame and the rear differential, kinda got under the truck. The 3 rear windows shattered, I have been projected forward at a pretty decent speed, and myself rammed the back of a semi truck. The impact feeling was massive. Each of our seats got into the fully reclined position.
Didn't get very good pictures but, please compare!:
4runner (left quarter pannel is also crippled, left rear wheel is pushed forward quite a bit)
Then this is the car that hit me, with 4 people in. All went in a ambulance:
You can show this to your wife if you want to convince her of buying a new 4runner
So, now I am going to visit the 3rd Gen forum quite more, got this awesome 4runner 1998 as my new truck. Been working on this baby for the last 2 weeks, fixing the inevitable rust on the rockers, back door and its inner components, and doing some preventive maintenance. Next step is the installation of a godly sound system, and adding Bluetooth music and phone capabilities, which I loved in my limited.
Having no payment is awesome, which is the way I chose to go, since I am pretty well equipped for maintaining a car, felt like I did not NEED another new vehicle, very happy with all of this. And I love those 3rd gen so much! To be honest, I love this one as much as my 5th gen. Love 80's/90's vehicles
Will continue to lurk here, since I find this forum very interresting, feel it is a very unique place. Hope the 3rd gen members are as educated and interresting as 5th gen members
