4runner jack sucks.

Why didn't they just give a normal sciccor jack instead of the jack bottle. My jack handles broke when I jacked the car up because I was planning on replacing all 8 of my brake pads but only got to 2 of them because the jack bottle sucks. Know I have to buy a sciccor jack or get a regular jack which I would like to get but I live in a condo and carrying it upstairs and downstairs for maybe once in a while is not convenient enough because I have no place to put it as you know condos are usually not that big.

You'll need a pretty big scissor jack to get the lift height that the 4Runner needs.

OEM jacks are for changing tires and are pretty useless other than that. You can get decent larger bottle jacks at Tractor Supply, Menards and other places that are reasonably priced. No matter what, if you are doing any sort of maintenance (like brake pads) you should put the truck on jack stands and not rely on the jack to hold it up.

You can use a scissor jack but you really need to put a couple of 2" x 8" x 18" wooden pads under it to reduce the amount of jack extension required to lift the 4runner off the ground.

Shouldn't be using the stock jack anyways to be changing brake pads.

No matter what kind of jack you get they are for lifting not to be used as jack stands get some sturdy jack stands. The oem jack is great fits perfectly under the rear seat and can be used to install shocks, replace bushings and change tires.
