Also, came across this truck on Instagram. Lifted on 315 wide Trail Grapplers. Trying to get some info to see what he did.
Lifted the front end today with a set of Toytec Baja Spacers. Toyota dealer performed the install and they verified with Toyota National that is will not void warranty. It's spec'd as a 1" inch spacer. It basically achieves the TRD Pro prototype appearance. I'll post picks sometime this weekend.
I have a really good memory, be careful, lol. I didn't mean to creep you out.
That is a great area you live in, if you have to live near LA. SP is a super nice place, especially for raising kids. Residential real estate prices are out the roof.
700k for a 1k sqft craftsman with a buggy shed for a garage...pricey.
Hope your TRD is serving you well. Any interesting things you've noticed now that you've had it for a few months?
Wow, 315s on 7" wide wheels?
Did it have to be installed by Toyota to not void warranty? Please post pics!
I don't think those are the stock Pro rims. They are black and do have TRD center caps, but the rims themselves look a bit different to me.

i gotta believe its nothing more than aesthetics being that so many stick spacers on for that reason alone
just curious... why is everyone going wider on the wheels/tires?
is it for better off road ? if so, what kind of off road are you aiming for with wider tires? unpaved roads in general of course but is the more advance stuff where a tire matters rock, mud, sand?
or is it because they generally look better?
I only ask because this is always a good subject to hear opinions on the matter since its such a subjective thing (imho). personally I've always gone skinnier on the tire and smaller diameter on the wheel and larger diameter on the tire. for example, my land rover right now has 33x10.5x15 tires while many love to run 32x12.5x16 . i run mostly around California/Utah trails wish are rocky with packed sand at best. Mud and soft deep sand aren't really prevalent enough (unless you seek them on purpose) to warrant a wider tire for the float effect and the skinny vs wide debate on snow.... again i prefer skinny, but i know many prefer wide. My "science" behind it is more rubber to flex and soften the ride on rough roads ( washboard/small rock road) with 15-16 rims and easier to maneuver the truck through tricky stuff with the skinnier tire while the larger diameter makes it better to go over stuff (think 29r bicycles).. the wider the tire the more you're wrestling the thing.
on this 4runner i was pleasantly surprised to find 7" rims on it but i read so many guys wishing for wider rims.
re: wider wheels, it's because when you move up to a 285/70-17 (~33") tire a 7.5" rim width is typically the minimum recommended by the manufacturer.i gotta believe its nothing more than aesthetics being that so many stick spacers on for that reason alone

yeah, without derailing into the subjectives of performance, after lifting, and raising the vehicle's COG, a wider stance and contact patch can give something back to the stability equation. and not for nothing, but there aren't very many 17" tall+skinny "pizza cutter" tires available, but there are gobs of 285s.yeah, thats part of my question. why are some moving up to the wider tire?
aesthetics or use? and if use i like hearing why some go that way. aesthetics i have no problem with that at all, i chose the TRD pro over a trail or SR5 for that reason more than any myself so I'm not going to call the kettle black.

"best" is subjective; pros & cons to each. fact is, the tire manufacturers have made "pizza cutters" a niche via limited availability.how much of that is demand/marketing/aesthetics vs what's best? not saying that sit, just asking if that's the case.
Would love to see pics of the lift. Was thinking of doing the same thing
