4runner TRD Pro

Just got an email from Toyota Marina Del Rey here in Los Angeles. They have a cement on the lot!

Here's the catch - minimum $8k markup. Craziness

haha... spoke with them weeks ago, asked if there was a markup and they said there will be an addendum of 10k. A salesperson called me and asked if I wanted to come make an offer.

There are some more hitting lots soon in LA and OC. I saw a list of incoming inventory. Tried to work a deal at North Hollywood but oh so shady.

Warning-Major Rant Coming.

I had an order in for a Super White TRD Pro with Gullo Toyota in Conroe Texas. I was told that my order had been placed and that my order would be fulfilled from an April production order with a May/June ETA. Like many of you on this site I proceeded with the order but still was on the lookout for an unsold White TRDP that any dealer might have gotten. I talked to a very helpful dealer in North Texas that asked me where I ordered mine from and I told him that it was from Gullo Toyota in Conroe, TX. He told me that he could see every TRDP inbound to dealers in the Gulf States Region and that Gullo had the exact Super White TRDP that I was looking for being delivered the very next day. I immediately call my salesman and ask him about the status of this vehicle and he doesn't even know it's coming in. He calls me back about an hour later and says that it's already presold and that it's (no surprise) a courtesy hold.

Flash forward several days and I still see that this vehicle hasn't moved or been picked up yet. I call my salesman again and tell him that he needs to check with his bosses and see if this person has changed their mind on purchasing this vehicle. Two days ago, my salesman calls me and says you're not going to believe this, but the guy backed out of the deal and my sales manager said I can sell it to you. GREAT! I said, I give him all my information necessary over the phone to secure the vehicle. He tells me that they will immediately get to work on dealer prepping the vehicle to my specifications and yesterday morning they take my deposit and tell me it should be ready by the end of the day. I let the dealer know that I had to work that afternoon and we arranged to have me take delivery of the vehicle first thing Monday morning. Yay! This is finally going to happen! I got my financing all lined up, my trade in appraised and was all ready to go.

Then, yesterday afternoon while I'm at work and can't really talk, my salesman calls me and says "Mr. -----, we have a problem with your vehicle." I'm thinking just something minor with the dealer prep. Nope. My sales manager got confused and thought that I was asking him about selling you a TRD Pro Tundra (I don't think they even have one of those on the lot) and NOT the TRD Pro 4Runner which one of our salesman ordered back in the Fall of last year for his "sister". At this point he offers to either refund my deposit and cancel my order or keep my deposit and order as is with my original delivery of May or June.

Now, I'm trying to process what the hell just happened and weigh all of my options. Am I right in thinking that the sales manager screwed up big time and needs to honor the deal that he made to sell me this vehicle? He gave the go ahead to my salesman sell it to me, I place the deposit to hold it, he somehow realizes that one of his salesman ordered this vehicle for his "sister", who was so excited to get it that she let it sit out back behind the dealership for an entire week. This sales manager basically threw me over for one of his salesmen that I think decided not to buy the thing, thought about it overnight and then decided he wanted it after all. I have bought two other vehicles from this dealership over the past decade and I'm just absolutely incredulous that this could happen and am even considering seeking damages from the dealership at this point. I just want the dealer to honor the deal that we had in place for this vehicle. As far as I'm concerned, if this salesman changed his mind and now wants the vehicle, he can wait for my order to come in in May or June.

I feel completely blindsided by this and don't even want to give this dealer any more of my business, but if I pull out at this point and go with another dealer, I'm afraid it's going to take even longer to get one, if I even can at this point.

Thanks for reading this and letting me rant, any advice is welcome and appreciated.

Can anyone with a 2017 TRDP confirm that 275/70/17 does not rub?

Can't ever confirm, for some people it fits fine and then for some it rubs. Not a big deal if it rubs on the bumper or mudflap.. just trim and you will be set. My ridge grapplers rubbed like crazy on the front bumper and I had to cut another inch after the lift.

Many people have been asking about the overlay as pictured below and have discovered that the TRDParts4u link doesn't work. I spoke with them today and learned that product is on backorder and as soon as they are available again the link will work. They cannot give an ETA and asking for everyone's patience.

First "mod" lol, as soon as I got home from Dealer. There is no other chrome on the truck, not sure why they didn't just come blacked out. This is the overlay kit from TRDparts4u, didn't want to mess with taking off and painting, or plasticdiping. Took me 5 minutes of prep and Voila:

what damages would you claim? seems like 1 of 2 things happened. either they did kind of screw you over by promising you a vehicle and then backed out last minute OR it could have been an honest mistake. many people in car sales have an IQ that is flirting with room temperature so mistakes can happen. i dont really see what options you have other than to continue waiting for the car you ordered already, or take your money elsewhere. if youre confident they did screw you over then shopping somewhere else would be my suggestion. i had a large toyota dealer waste my time so i went somewhere else and have an order in for my pro through them. its not worth the energy to deal with people like that.

Yeah I just put down another deposit elsewhere. It just frustrating because this is the exact dealer I had my original order with and they're less than 10 miles from my house and I really thought I had lucked out. I just secured another one 1,000 miles away and will have to either fly up and drive it back or have it loaded on a truck and shipped to Texas. Cest la vie.

Let's start flooding calls into these dealerships offering $10K under sticker and act surprised and angry when they don't accept our offer

Help????

Just had my steering wheel replaced at the dealership because it was fading already. They replaced it with part # 45100-35540-CO

It looks the same, but it's not a leather look or feel. It's flat black instead of shiny-ish like the original, and feels like plastic, not leather. The stitching and perforated look is the same though.

Wondering if the new 2017 are shiny leather feel, or this flat black plastic feel even though the part number shows its leather...

White TRDPro available in Olympia

Just got called from my salesperson and someone dropped out of a Cement that will arrive within the week so I jumped on that and dropped my allocation on a white that will arrive in a couple weeks. Call olympia toyota in washington and ask for Joey. this literally happened a few minutes ago.

Try 15k for 'regional markup' + paint protection, window etching and a couple other bs markups that totalled almost 18k ... a grand total of 62,363.00. Just went by there to see it.

I guess I should feel pretty lucky. I placed an order and deposit for my 2016 Sept 5th, and was driving it maybe two weeks later. No window etching, no paint protection, absolutely no added fees or frivolous mark-ups. I paid MSRP+ TT&L. The one slight caveat was I wanted one with zero options, and mine came with a sliding rear tray. I had the option to back out obviously, but I wasn't going to worry about $350 when looking at the 42k bigger picture.

I'll apologize in advance for what I'm sure will be obvious after you answer, but what is TT&L?

Maybe 'tax, title and....?'

Sliding rear cargo deck

Do any of you have a Cement 4R without the sliding cargo deck? I've had my name on 3 Cement 4Rs, but they've all been equipped this option. I have a 2015 Inferno without the deck and much prefer this setup.

Curious if anyone has one without? Or perhaps Toyota is just building them this way at the present?

I think you may be right? I asked for my build to have 0 options other than the dual usb and the interior lighting, and it still had the cargo deck.

Oh well. I'm getting it for a great price so I wasn't super upset. I think my wife will like it.

I have a cement on order and I did not see some of the options you guys are talking about. The only option was a sliding tray which I said no to. Dual USB? Interior lighting? When I build a trd pro on Toyotas website these don't come up for me as options or accessories
