5th Gen Trail Edition

:iagree: Great job on your covers.

I don't like the look of other components hanging out and off the frame on trucks. Looks like someone wearing a skirt or shorts that are way too short. Like the Big Three's fullsize HD pickups, parking brake cables, wiring and brake lines are all visible under the cab on the frame rails--it looks terrible.

Thanks for the comp. btw - good analogy of the components hanging out, I'll forever have that image etched in my head... :(

Saw the pics of the TE on the Rubicon...maybe it comes with the sliders standard on it?

That's slightly different than the TE, no blackeed out headlights, black door handles, black mirrors, and different tires. The TE definitely doesn't have sliders either..

Here is my 2001 with 1" Performance Products springs, Revo 265s and the running boards removed. Look familar? Just add sliders. With the Gen 5 locking rear diff would be very sweet indeed.

I love the looks of this hybrid model... more colorkeyed than the TE but with the TE options and bodystyle. If they put this into production with smoked lights I would definitely go for it!

Something that is frustrating after looking at the different models and options is the limited availability of some options to a certain model only. I am liking whats on the TE, but if I could get some of the options or colors off of the SR5 or LE it would be a better truck imo...

edit: I'm confused with the toyota car builder... even if I use an area code where I can get the TE, I can't add the option of nav (which is linked with the KDSS). Anyone been able to do this, or is it already included?

Just looked at Toyota.com and the TE is 35K with the only option been the Kinetic Suspension. IT DOES HAVE A REAR LOCKER STANDARD, which is great! I think that with all of the standard options, the efficiency, and the off road capabilities this is a great deal.

The problem is the regional distributor. Toyota.com will list the vehicle with different options that's available from the factory for every trim. The zip code/build tool, shows the available option combinations in your specific area. Different regions order vehicles differently.

In NorCal, it's near impossible to find nav on any 4th gen if it wasn't a V8 Limited 4WD. The only 2WD were SR5s. Almost all Sport Editions and Limiteds were 4WD.
