60k out of the BFG KO 2's

I just wanted to give some feed back on the BFG KO 2's in the 34x10.5x17 I had on my 16 TRDP.

I put 60k on them in 12 months, so one winter and lot of highway miles.

Personally, I am really impressed with them in the rocks, MOAB and Southwestern off roading. They really conform to the terrain and offer a lot of grip, better than a lot of MT's I have had. I believe the siping and new tire compound make it a winner.

Winter, here in Co, they are very good for the first half of the tread, I believe its a dual compound rubber because there was a loss of grip near the end of winter. Just my seat of the pants theory. overall, better than any other mountain snowflake rated tire.

Highway, ridiculously quiet, all the way to the end, which was 3/32's.

Mileage, I averaged 18.9 mpg with a lift on my TRDP, 34x10.5 tires with no rub. 80% highway.

I would recommend them with no hesitation in the future as I would tell people to pass on the original KO.

Hope this helps some people on expected tread life and mpg estimates.

I just popped 35k on mine and they are probably at 75% great tires for a variaty of applications although I have never been in snow with them

side note what lift are you running with 34s?

I have about 30k on factory size load C's and I am so impressed I will buy KO2's again when needed. Might move up to 285's next. Only draw back I have found is how they pick up 1/4" gravel and fling them for miles after getting back on pavement but overall amazing tires.

The tires are a load D.

Driving style, speed limit all the time..... not a heavy foot off the launch. i'm not the guy always looking to pass, not worth a ticket given how much I drive...

With that said, my mileage would be higher if I didn't go to WY and MT, I have been was low as 12.8 doing the speed limit, not towing a thing....

I spend less on gas and average 1mpg better than my Infiniti G37. I'd say the 4Runner isn't bad on gas at all. And here I thought I drove a lot, at almost 3k miles in the first 30 days of ownership.

I have load E ko2s, and they have recently become VERY noisy at 45,000km (~30K miles)
I've rotated mine every 8000km (every oilchange). It might be something else driveline related, but it sure seems like tire noise to me. I'm no stranger to AT and MT tires.

I'm not impressed with them at all. I wouldn't expect more than one winter out of them. The sipes look very jagged with wear. And I'm a bit of a stickler when it comes to alignments.

I have rotated them every 5k and my wear was extremely even, but I do an X style rotation and side to side. Never front to back on the same side...

Come to think of it, that's about when I was thought my tires became noticeably louder, and my thought that the tires have a dual compound.. Perhaps I'm not crazy......

I am in sales, hands on training and demo's for the outdoor industry.

I purchased some 255-75-17 Toyo mt's, and I figure I'd burn through them by the end of December and replace with KO 2's again for the better winter performance. I have some more extreme places I need to get to this Fall..... :- )

So far I gained over a 1 mpg and more tire noise, lol..... I got 406 miles out of a tank of fuel today.

Nice write up. I have KO2's on my 4runner and FJ and love them. I really don't have any complaints either. When the time comes to get new tires, I am not sure I will change it up since I have enjoyed them so much on and off road.
