what driver seat do you have
I think that was out of a supra. It was installed by the p/o but I didn't like it so I took it out and swapped it for a gray SR5 seat. My seats are just a temp thing until I can fork up some dough for a set of corbeau front and rear seats.

So I finally dove into my half door project. As the weather is getting better and better it is really making me want to get them done.
First things first, strip the doors down to a bare shell
I didn't really take any pictures of the prepping and cutting stage. Just about all of us have seen these half doors so I didn't think it was necessary to take a bajillion pictures of each step.
I decided to use fiberglass on my doors instead of sheet metal. With fiberglass I could easily make the glass conform to the natural contours of the door. However, let me tell you that stretching the fleece material over something this big wasn't all that fun. It was a real pain in the arse and it didn't come out the way I was hoping. So, I did my best at stretching the fleece over the door and started taping it into place. Since it wasn't the best wrap job I applied resin over the fleece without using fiberglass. Tomorrow when it cures I will sand it down smooth and re-apply fleece where I need to. Then I will apply the glass and make it strong.
Here's where I'm at so far:

I didn't start the other door today and I probably won't for a few days. I did get the first layer of glass on one door. This is a fun project because I don't get to work with fiberglass very often. I think the last time I worked with it was in 2008 when I did a stereo project on my 350z.
I also picked this bad boy up for $100! So, not too long after I get to Colorado the runner will go under the knife and get a solid axle!

How are your doors coming along?
Thanks! Learning how to work with steel and reading a LOT on pirate4x4 has completely opened my eyes to endless possibilities of what can be done on these rigs. I have more fun working/building my runner than I do driving it.
So... The battery box is done and installed. Looks right at home in a rust free fender!
Looks like you redid your wires too....how'd you go about this ESP the positive side?

Depends on which ones. The ones I ordered will be here next week. The half doors have been sitting. They are cut though. The other doors still don't match the car. LOL! Trying to find a set of red doors I can trade for the gray doors at a salvage yard.

Today was a good day, a buddy and I went wheeling up at Turkey Bay at Land Between The Lakes. It's an excellent place to go wheeling and it costs $15 for a 3 day pass. Tons of good trails with various difficulties.
It started out awesome! We had good weather, the trails were dry and two capable 4runners! You guys have seen my runner but here's my buddies:
In the first half hour on the trail there was already damage! I am pretty new to 4wheeling. I never knew how to weld, fabricate, build engines, etc until I bought this 4runner. So I made a bad mistake today and learned a lesson! You would think that this is common sense but sometimes when you're having a good time and thinking about the trails, common sense doesn't always flow as it should. Anyways, I was following a bit too close to my friend and lost traction. I slid right into the back of his 4runner and pretty much destroyed the tailgate on his 4runner and shattered his rear window. I smashed the front of my 4runner pretty good and bent my hood beyond repair. Now I need to replace my buddies tailgate and fix my core support and replace my hood.
Oh well, all in a day's fun

After some work with a pry bar, ratchet strap and a big hammer, this was the end result:
So, now that we have the damage out of the way we can focus on the wheeling and having more fun

Agreed! However, I'm pretty sure that uncle sam frowns upon the whole drinking and driving thing, even if offroading on federal land.
I said a few choice words when that happened and I would have loved to have a few beers at that time. Seeing as I spend so much time and effort in making this a good looking runner, I was not happy when I did that. But, as expected... it's a trail rig and it's not the last time that this is going to happen. Hopefully I can learn from my mistakes and buy a front bumper!!
