In looking closely at one of those spy pics that triguy posted earlier I noticed that the A-pillar grab handle is back after 8 long years - this should make RonMaiden very happy :D Hopefully they also added back the stupid auto up/down window for the passenger!!!

Hmmm...I thought they got rid of them but you're right, here's a pic from Toyota's site of an '09 with the A-pillar grab handles :D My bad. Could have sworn they got rid of them. Maybe it was the ceiling mounted ones I'm thinking of instead of the A-pillar. The 3rd gen had two grab handles for the passenger, does your 4th gen have two?

My 04 has the A pillar handles. No "oh s#$%" handle on the roof for the driver, but that's what the steering wheel is for.

And I was starting to think I got the special sport edition... I have A and B pillar grab handles all around and no oh crap handle on the driver side front but the passenger front and both back seats have them..

Same for 06. A-pillar and B-pillar handles all around, and handles above all doors except driver. It looks like the holes are there above the driver's door with plastic covers, so you could add one easily if you wanted to.

I have been thinking about that for a while. My suspiscion is that since the 4Runner is sold in both right and left-hand drive versions it is easier to have just one roof liner.

Besides, having a handle sticking out 3 inches from the roof as the driver means I am just going to bop my head on it all the time - and I have enough drain bamage as it is.

Although, it could make getting in and out easier in some circumstances for folks.

The old school '03-05 tails are back! (I know they are only on the prototype and will never make it to the production model.)
