A Real "corny" Build Thread

Looks great! Have you thought about matching your flares? Thanks for the PM.

Np sorry it took so long haha!

I actually have thought of it before but I did a brief search a couple months ago on how it can be done and all I remember reading was that it's a hassle to like remove then, put em back on and still get a good quality paint job on em.

If I'm mistaken then I probably just didn't look into it as much as I should have and if anyone could link out some threads or anything that has to do with this then that'd be cool and I could maybe get to it someday in 2012 haha!

You may not be active anymore, but any more info on how you painted the skid plate? It looks sick, and I would do this in a heart beat! Any cleaning/pre coats? And what paint did you use?

haha i'm still active, just haven't had any money to update anything on my rig.

stock skid is 2 piece and you have to remove the "front" skid first which is like 3 bolts up front then like another 2 or so in the back; once that's off there's another plate you remove which is more of the same bolts. take those off and it should come right out.

But depending on your truck the bolts might be tough to take off, so have some WD-40 ready ahha. Also i just washed off all the grease and dirt before painting it with some rust-o-leum engine enamel spray paint. wasn't too picky with my paint or prep because at the end of the day its just a skid plate on the bottom of the rig. good luck! :D

EDIT:
If you're too lazy to read here's a thread that helped me out:
