Nope. Don't like it at all. Take it off. It's gonna be too slow.

Mine won't work. I've got an '01 with the wider flares. That's what you guys get for having oooooooooold ones.

We really need to get together for at least beers or something. Both your rigs are looking great. First one is on me as a welcome home.

hey look mr fancy pants with a premium sports package and immaculate paint, sport hood, low miles bla bla bla i have to work with what i gots... lol just cause i have a 97 with 260+k miles doesnt mean you need to look down your nose at me -you can do that however when it comes to photography sir... :hail:

Well, if you ever build that engine you were talking about (Can't remember where I read about you talking about it. Meant to make a comment, but forgot) then you guys can both leave me in the dust with your "old" rides.

LCE used to make a pro street version of this motor, that could run on pump gas, but i guess they stopped making that, cause at $12k no one bought one, i was going to after my up coming deployment but... ill probably just buy a used one, tear it down, rebuild it using LCE stuff like heads ect and then put an SC on it along with doug thorley headers and a larger throttle body and have the ECU tuned by LCE for the larger intake...

i probably wont bore it, cause as stated the cylinder wall thickness becomes an issue and so does the long term durability and reliability. what LCE did there with that motor is great for a race motor even in an endurance setting but its not a motor that anyone is planning on putting 100k+ miles on with out rebuilding. and thats something that i want

that quote? :focus: now back to our regularly scheduled program

Your truck looks great with the new lift man. Your the 3rd person I've seen who got the boss coilovers and went with the 550lb springs. Is that the preferred rate due to its compression and valving or something? Because the other toytec coilovers are usually 600 or 650 and the Icon and SAW coilovers that guys run are always 650lb.

I guess i'm just a little confused why every boss coilover ive seen run (only 3 now) is using the 550lb springs.

Retrofit is starting...

Looks awesome!

Have fun doing the shift kit...what a miserable installation.

You may have just convinced me to have a professional do it... The folks on the supra forums make it sound like it's not too difficult =(

TODAY I START (HOPEFULLY COMPLETE) MY PROJECTOR RETROFIT

I'll post progress pictures in a bit... Heading to Home Depot to buy some supplies, then I will be going in.

Wish me luck. :hiding:

Thanks for the kind words, Gents.

Day 1 of the retrofit is not going well...

I do not live in an area where I have a 25ft flat area to aim my headlights and trace the cutoff, so I used the bench method in my garage, with the lights off of the 4Runner, and clamped down on a table.

Somehow I messed that up, so I cannot get the projectors to aim anywhere near straight.

I am trying to see if a buddy of mine has any issues with me parking his 4runner, marking where he's parked, tracing his cutoff on his garage, parking my 4runner in the same spot, and trying to aim off of his cutoff.

If this doesn't work, you'll soon see a WTB 99+ headlight ad, and a WTS complete retrofit kit.

fack man.... this is my biggest fear with this mod... -are you painting your housings/reflectors black, or leaving them chrome?

It's not all that hard. Just not a fun install by any means. ATF dripping constantly in your face, I ended up covered.

The only hard part is forcing the valve body back up, when you shim the springs they are much harder to compress. SO you have to force the VB into position and try to thread in a few bolts....much easier with two people.

Totally worth it though!

What projectors did you use? Any pics of the output to see if we can help?

I have the FX-R projectors from TRS.

No pictures of the output... I am not really to that stage yet.

In a nutshell, due to my screw up, I have 2 headlights with large holes cut in them, 2 projectors ready to go in, and effectively no cutoff lines to assist in aiming them. Any ideas on that...?
BrianSD_42 Let me know if you have any suggestions...

It would take some serious skill to leave them chrome... I wish I had that skill. It's not possible, in my opinion, to not scratch these dang things. I will be painting mine a charcoal color.

Yes.... I want more info on this shift kit deal...

This is the thread that gave me the idea...
Anyone ever use the Transgo 340-HD2 shift kit? Just bought one going to install. - Club Lexus Forums
There are a couple of them on Yotatech as well.

Although labor intensive... mount the shells of the headlights (without glass, and put the factory adjusters back to the neutral/mid point) back into the truck. Mount with a few dabs of epoxy, etc, just to get the projectors to set in place, that you could still re-do if necessary. It's crucial to get the rotation adjustment at this point, because thats the only part that can't be fixed later. Wait for the epoxy to cure, then take the headlights back out of the truck, and finish the rest.

After a small pep talk and a bit more reading I got back on the horse.

I wired the HIDs, have all holes drilled in the right spots, and am finishing up painting before bed. Hopefully I can wrap this up tomorrow!!
