1/2" Body Lift Installed
Linked up with Brilliant on Monday and took ownership of a beautiful purple 1/2" body lift. GSPRunner was kind enough to lend some space/help in getting it all installed tonight.
I would have taken pictures, but it looks exactly the same... With about 1/2" more of a gap between the bumpers and body. Oh, and the pinchweld above the sliders.
Aesthetically this is the absolute most I would recommend without modifying bumpers to decrease the gap.
The ride home was weird. The steering feels tighter, and will take some getting used to. The sliders are no longer contacting the body over quick successive bumps, so that's awesome.
On my application I am going to need to replace the bolts located in the most forward position of the cab. They are not long enough after the 1/2" spacer is installed. So yeah, I drove home with only 8 bolts, I must be a complete idiot.
Install was a cake walk... I used a 14mm wrench, 14mm socket/ratchet, and the bottle jack placed on top of the tires. I think it took about 2 hours moving at a snails pace.
I would do that WAY before ever considering a body lift.
Just my .02
I truly appreciate your opinion, but with how tight they were I was either going to have to reweld them (have them rewelded), or lift the body to make enough room for more dremeling. With the bodylift coming at no cost, that seemed the best option.
When are we going to race?
Whenever you're feeling froggy.
