Got a part number for the pump?

One of those days, eh? The part number is bolded, about 10 words into the original post! =D

I found mine on the EvolutionM forum for $35 shipped. Seller claimed the pump had 5k miles on it. I didn't really try to find a new one... I imagine you could get one though from a Mitsu dealer or something. (I just found one on a parts site for over $400... Part number appears to be 1760A031)

Apparently the Evo 8 and 9 pumps are very similar but the Evo 9 handles higher pressures better. I don't think that'll be an issue for my little 4Runner.

I may need to pick your brain someday about re-wiring if I start running this pump past it's limit. Judging by how non-chalantly people talk about it, it must be pretty simple. I've just never looked into it.

Well if you run into the top end rpms leaning out, it may need the rewire. 9v to 14v at the pump is a drastic increase. Does get louder.

Its pretty easy, like running any other accessory. Large gauge line to battery, relay and thats about it.

Yes, one of those days.... 400 bucks for the pump? I put on the smaller pulley so I need to get more fuel in there. The noise pump was one of the detractors and hoping you solved that.

Around $400 is what the dealer parts sites are listing them around. I paid $35 shipped for mine from a guy on evolutionm.net. The noise is nearly non-existent now. I cannot hear it at all until I am under 1/4 tank, then I can BARELY hear it if I am standing outside by the tank. Cannot hear it inside.

I also took an idea from [MENTION=123173]Jhelms[/MENTION] and used a pencil eraser to clean the board on the fuel sender thing... My gauge has never been so accurate. It used to be normal from full to 3/4, drop FAST to 1/4, and then sit there forever til it dropped to empty and the fuel light came on. Now it seems to actually *gasp* function!

Memorial Day 2016

For Memorial Day this year my wife and I were invited to go camping in North East, WA with a small group from Tacomaworld. The plan was to meet north of Seattle on Saturday morning, head over the North Cascade Highway to Twisp, take the WABDR from Twisp north to where it intersects HWY 20 (only like 30 miles) and then head out to Omak Lake where we planned to stay the night.

Here's an overview of our route...

Unfortunately the weather sucked on the west side of the Cascades on Satuday, so Diablo Lake was less than impressive and the overlook at the summit was still snowed in. My wife had never seen either so we were a bit disappointed, and will have to head back up there later in the summer.

Sunday

We woke up Sunday morning to a beautiful day and quickly made the decision to spend the day there fishing, drinking, and enjoying the weather. The dogs wasted no time getting in the water and running around like maniacs.

As the sun got higher in the sky the lake turned this crazy blue color. It didn't even look real.

Unfortunately the minute the sun started going down, the wind picked up and didn't stop blowing all night. Apparently I was the only one with proper stakes, so my tent took it like a champ, but the others were not so lucky.

Monday morning we just woke up, made some breakfast, broke down the tent (my wife must have been in a hurry. When I walked away to take this picture she started putting the tent away and ruined my picture!)

Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures on the way home. The road we needed to take was closed and forced us to take a 100+ mile detour which added hours to our drive, and we had to be home by a certain time to meet someone.

All in all it was a great trip. I'm not POSITIVE we were supposed to camp there, but no one ever bothered us. In fact, the whole weekend one truck drove by, and a couple boats. NOBODY was out there.

I'm pretty sure I've been through this thread 6 - 7 times and each time I do, I get super jealous of the crazy, wild trips you and your compadres go on all the time.

Excellent build you have there, [MENTION=63487]A.Wilson013[/MENTION], I'm mighty impressed.

PS. So, you're pushing 16 - 18 MPG, with a S/C and a fully loaded truck???

Thanks a lot; I really appreciate it. I consider myself quite lucky to be able to have so many friends that enjoy this stuff, and a wife that enjoys it ALMOST as much as I do.

Yes, I am pushing 16-18 MPG on these trips with a S/C and a 4Runner that weighs nearly 6000lbs with an ~650in*2 sail (my tent) sitting on top of it. Every tank I had on the pavement this weekend was over 18mpg going up and over two different mountain passes, through small towns, etc. The "leg" we did which had two "offroad" sections it dropped to 16.4mpg. When on daily driving duty the 4Runner typically sees 14-16mpg around the city. On the highway though I have learned to massage 18-19mpg out of it.

I did, however up my tire pressure to 42psi for the trip. Trying to stroke that fuel economy for all it's worth =p

That's still fairly impressive! I've been toying around with the idea of having/getting a S/C - the extra power and not much of a difference in MPG's (though it seems like it'd be an increase for me).....:juggle:

Also, how are you liking your RTT? It's another item on the ole' wish list...

The S/C is pretty fun. When I had 265/75/16 Toyo Open Country AT's my little 4Runner was pretty dang quick for what it was. It's still quick for what it is, but has slowed down a LOT with the added weight and bigger tires.

I love my RTT. My only regret is getting the smallest size available (48" wide) and not spending a bit more on the next size up (56" wide). The size doesn't really bother me when it's just my wife and I (or just me) but my "pup" has calmed down a lot over the past year so this summer my wife wants her in the tent with us. Last summer she just slept in the back of the 4Runner, so it wasn't really an issue.
