Memorial Day 2016
For Memorial Day this year my wife and I were invited to go camping in North East, WA with a small group from Tacomaworld. The plan was to meet north of Seattle on Saturday morning, head over the North Cascade Highway to Twisp, take the WABDR from Twisp north to where it intersects HWY 20 (only like 30 miles) and then head out to Omak Lake where we planned to stay the night.
Here's an overview of our route...
Unfortunately the weather sucked on the west side of the Cascades on Satuday, so Diablo Lake was less than impressive and the overlook at the summit was still snowed in. My wife had never seen either so we were a bit disappointed, and will have to head back up there later in the summer.
Here's our crew up at Diablo Lake...

A section of the lake itself (
Use this link to see it on a sunny day. It's incredible.)

Pretty cool Jeep with an Ursa Minor top we saw as we headed through Winthrop... (I didn't notice someone was in it until I uploaded the picture, haha)

And some random shots from around the lake as we looked for a spot to camp. By the time we got there it was a little overcast, and the sun was coming down.

We decided on this spot right on the water, and set up camp as the sun made it's final descent behind the mountains.
