This past weekend I headed out to the North West Overland Rally for the second year in a row. We had a pretty decent group with myself, [MENTION=82154]GSPRunner[/MENTION], [MENTION=105773]busmup808[/MENTION], and a few guys from Tacomaworld. I think there were 6 or 7 vehicles in total.
Anyway, the event was as good as I remember from last year, and I'll surely be back next year. Thanks to all the stopped by and said hello!
I didn't take nearly enough pictures, but most of our group did our own little "trail run" to the top of Chumstick Mountain. Right as we got to the summit, about 30 dual sports from the rally appeared out of nowhere and took up the good parking spots. There were so many that they were literally running into each other.
While everyone else aired down, I turned my CDC Valve knob on my shocks/coilovers, took a couple pictures, then sat in the AC. It was HOT in the sun.

I'm serious! I'm just wondering in situations where you are moving say each day, but have the same base campsite, how much work it ends up being.

Well for someone like me with a screwed up back, it sucks kinda. Alex just has the problem of his wife closing it up with his keys in it still.

Lol. You guys sound like quite the team. I'm toying around with the idea of doing a Pacific coast surf run with a buddy. Just trying to look at the different logistics. Would be nice if we could figure out a way to not have to setup much and breakdown much as we go along being we might need to go search the areas for surf.

We got there Thursday afternoon, and left Sunday morning. Broke down camp Friday morning to go up Chumstick Mountain, got back in the afternoon and set it back up. Broke down camp again Saturday morning to spend the day at the lake, as we were climbing in the 4Runner my wife informed me she didn't check the pockets of the tent (it's her duty to check the pockets and straighten the bedding before we close it up), so she opened it up and closed it again by herself (she could tell I was mad and told me to just sit down, lol), got back in the afternoon and set it back up. Broke it down Sunday morning and headed home.
So to answer your question more concisely: we set up and took down the tent/awning 3 times (4 if you include when my wife did it).
I honestly don't mind it. However, one night another guy who has a ground tent decided he wanted to go take some astrology shots. I really wanted to go, but my wife didn't because it was late and she wanted to go to bed soon. Had to ride in the back seat of his access cab which was less than ideal.
My biggest issue with the tent is not having to set it up and break it down, but rather the feeling of not wanting to go anywhere once you set it up. Memorial Day weekend, for example, we ran out of beer. No one wanted to break down their tent to drive all the way to town, so we made the guy in the Jeep who had a ground tent make the trip =)
I want a trailer.
Thanks man! Years later and many many mods and they're still my favorite mod I think. I love them.

Don't waste your time. The first 30 pages or so is just BS with me unable to make decisions. I'd just look at pictures =)
My wife and I never once had a good, full, restful night of sleep in a ground tent. In the roof top tent we sleep like babies. It's awesome. However, I can understand that cost point. It's a lot for a tent.
I love my CBI front bumper. The only one I like more, I think, is the Addicted hybrid. So sexy.
CVT is starting to make them and had their prototype at the overland rally. I think it's going to be a hit.

My nice flashlight that I normally use often is still in my tent
Didn't realize it until I already removed the tent from the roof.

I'm looking at something like the Casita's. I like the idea of a fiberglass shell and also something with pretty minimal setup/teardown. And the fact you can keep all sorts of stuff inside while you've got it in tote is a huge plus too. Downside is currently I have no space to keep one.

About a month ago my wife was in an accident and her car was totaled (She was/is fine. Other driver was at fault/insured. VERY painless process.). On June 30th we sealed the deal on a 2016 IS300 FSport. A long story happened, and I just picked the car up today.
Needless to say, 4Runner is on the back burner for a little bit...
