A.Wilson013's Build Thread

I'm really hoping I don't feel the need to do that. I don't need it to be fast. I've got a V8 in the garage to fill that need. I just want more low-end power for when I drive up into the mountains.

With the stock pulley and IK22s, you won't need to sink another dollar into it until it's due for a rebuild at least. Those plugs don't last long either, necessary evil I guess, but plan on changing them out every 20k miles or so. But that's easy and cheap.

Wrong and wrong, just ask Alex....

I ran mine just with the SC for over a year and it was fine. I only did the 7th because I found a great deal on it.

Additional big props to GSPRunner as well. He is also volunteering his time in this ridiculously cold weather to help out.

I agree on the cold here. I ended up carrying my seats into the building so I can swear at them where it is warm. Did the same when swapping the struts.

Hands go numb pretty quick.

Kicking myself for not buying a house with a garage.

Time to order some parts...

I took off the brake drum this morning and the mess I expected to see simply wasn't there. However it did smell like gear oil, and there was a greasy, sticky residue on both the drum and the shoes.

I've decided to go ahead and have the brakes done (shoes and cylinders) and the axle seals (and everything associated) replaced on both sides. It has all lasted nearly 200k miles (I drive too much...) so may as well give it a refresh.

Big thanks to BigFishAllDay for the part numbers in his rear axle seal write up.

Brake Components
x2 47550-35210 (Wheel Cylinder) $52.47 ea

The shoes come for both sides in one box; I paid a whopping $42 for OEM ones back in 09.
They sell a wheel cylinder rebuild kit for $35 or so. Not hard to rebuild them though new is always better.

If you haven't replaced the breather on the axle, do such.

Ah, thank you for that. I like it a lot more now that the total is under $500. I was going to call to clarify on the shoes since the site said NOTHING about being for both sides.

My cylinders had a good, long life. I'll let them rest in peace.

Today I got started on my for sale ad.

Hoping to have it all cleaned up and ready to list next week.

Time to get something a bit newer, a bit bigger, and with a couple more cylinders.

Gonna be weird not having you posting up your 3rd gen bits after all these years. Kinda got used to having your face around. :)
