A.Wilson013's Build Thread

Today I got started on my for sale ad.

Hoping to have it all cleaned up and ready to list next week.

Time to get something a bit newer, a bit bigger, and with a couple more cylinders.

Wow, can't believe your selling the 3rd Gen. Although, who am I to question a well built rig going up for sale!

We wants some deets on the new prospect! Going to join me in the 4th Gen V8 world? GX470? Maybe a Hundy?

Still should try and line up this year at some point too, regardless of what vehicle you end up in!

Not a fan of the transmission or what?

I've had it for about a month and a half now, and I've been about as patient with it as any big Toyota fan boy, but I just can't help but keep wondering why the hell Toyota put this engine and transmission in this truck. It sucks.

Here is what you need to shoot for then. It should be a real eye catcher up in the PNW:

I said more cylinders, not more wheels =p That thing is not nearly Japanese enough to hang out in my garage.
Gonna be weird not having you posting up your 3rd gen bits after all these years. Kinda got used to having your face around. :)
I am sure I'll still poke around on here. I still love 4Runners.

Someone is gonna get a nice rig.
V8 4th gen?
I simply cannot stomach the interior on the 4th gens. However, if I can find a 2007 V8 Sport I would consider it. First mod would have to be either some high-end seat covers or some new seats.

V8 LC or Lexus equivalent?
Ding ding ding.

Looking at either a 100 series or GX470. I have never driven a 100 series so I plan to test drive one this weekend.
Just do yourself a favor and don't get a 3rd gen Taco.
If I bought a Taco I may actually need to find useful information on Tacomaworld... I am not ready for that challenge.
I knew I read that wrong
Haha, I am in no hurry to sell. I still love my 4Runner and it still puts a smile on my face almost every time I drive it.

I vote second gen taco! Or 5th Gen runner
Nahhhh
Tundra!

Or you can get a Rover with a LS conversion.:flamethrwoer2:
A Tundra would be slick, but my dogs are far too spoiled to ever ride in the bed of a truck. Couldn't do it.

Sad to see it go! But definitely excited to see what you build next. I'm sure it will be even cleaner than this one!
Indeed. I have loved this thing for a longgg time and will be sad to part with it. The next vehicle will be done right the first time, and not as overbuilt for my needs.

Another reason to hate rear drums... Glad you guys are all ok A.Wilson013
Thanks man =)
This is so sad!

Selling complete or parting out the pieces first?
I am going to list it as complete. If I cannot get what I want for it I will look at the feasibility of removing modifications and trading it in, or selling at a lower price point.

You hit my 3 options right on the head. I have done my research on what years/trim levels I would want for a GX/4th Gen but am SERIOUSLY lacking in 100 series knowledge. Currently a GX is at the front of the line, but if a 100 series isn't too much a tank, that may be the one.
Say it aint so..

Oh man... I was just adjusting to the uneasy reality of not seeing updates for the mighty GSPRunner not posting mod updates with beautiful pics, so this is less than ideal news in my book. Sad face.

I would be a bit spooked if I had my runner decide to spin out and try to kill me and my loved ones.

I hope Alex is banned from trivia night. I could create a spam response to his ad, crash it a couple of times if need be, set up a dummy PP account.

In reality I will miss your build. Post up some pics when you sell and find the replacement....

Curious, what don't you like about the 4th gen interior? I could see not liking the cloth seats, but the overall control placements feel ergonomical and comfortable. Nothing feels especially cheap or chintzy (unlike some American made cars I've driven or newer Toyotas (2016 Taco, 2016 Rav4, 2016 Corolla)

GX is a solid choice as well, just is odd seeing a built Lexus

Leather was a selling point for me, I was actually looking for a sedan when I came across mine. Interior feels much like my Avalon felt as far as comfort and quality.

Good luck with your sale and search, fun to see your (badass) rig this last weekend

Fine. I'm selling mine too. This is all ridiculous. I'm feeling a lot like Bill O'Reilly right now.

Idk... Park it in the backyard or something and just pretend you sold it... Then you'll have seller's remorse, and still have the option of going back to it! I hear wayyy too many stories of people regretting they sell it.

As much as I hate to see you say that and want to chime in with my own regret from selling, I do understand your position. The 470/100 series is an awesome platform that will suite your needs better.

I for one am in favor of this swap! Best of luck amigo. Just promise you will stick around here for a while and show off the new truck.

Although I will be sad not seeing one of my favorite builds around on here anymore, I support your decision... I'm a fan of both the 100s and 470s. There's some super nice builds of them.

Curious to see the ad for this though, and how much it goes for! Good luck with the sale!

Surprised you don't like the 4th Gen interior. I really like mine in terms of ergonomics. The Sport edition cloth seats are defintely "meh" though. I had them in my 08' Sport Edition briefly and I definitely prefer the limited leather seats.

I love the GX, was looking for one myself. Only thing I didnt like was lack of aftermarket support (bumper and armor options - compared to 4Runner) and that swing out rear barn door.

The 100 series is a boss but the pre 05's have old looking interior and no vvti and the 4 speed trans. I've looked at 05+ 100's for a while but after driving my Tundra offroad, I don't think I could go any larger, and the 100 is larger still than my Tundra was. Oh and the front Torsion bar IFS blows IMO. But all that being said, they do have a lot of positives about them.... and I'm sure you would make a very nice build out of one!

I vote GX or 4th Gen ;)

Just wondering, the good thing about the 3rd gen is it's not overly computerised so you can do things yourself. What about these newer models?
