Aftermarket power lift gate finally available

Well, the 4Runner pulls a $100 premium, and shipping brings it to $568

Still not bad at all for all the options it has.

And to think this would solve all the shit my girlfriend gives me because hers opens with a button.:reddance:


ETA: I wonder how it'll hold up with a ladder on the hatch......

Will it open on the fly?

Certainly looks functional. It appears that they do change geometry with new brackets for the mounting points so it'll open and close properly. Some of their models require hole saws to cut in new bracing for the new mounting points. I'm curious if this one is just a bolt on assembly or if more major cutting/drilling is required. That means there's room in the strut area to make it work. Should be a pretty cool system. The one install I've seen in a RAV4 is very in depth requiring dash, roof liner, and rear door liners to come out. That's probably a bigger hurdle than the $500 price tag for some folks.

Now we just need someone to buy it and test it out.

Going to talk to the wife tonight. If she says it's a go I'm going to get that and the foot sensor. just have to make sure it works with the 2019 4runner limited.
And I'll do the install myself.
Just added the power folding mirrors. So I can handle this.

will save so much complaining about putting anything in the back! always ask why it does not have automatic headlights and why the liftgate does not open on its own. keep us updated if anyone does a purchase and install soon.

Didn't know the 5th gen was available with a power liftgate. Nice. I suspect this is very doable for anyone with one. As a 4th gen owner, I won't hold my breath for someone to "retro" one in ours.

Power Tailgate

Hey everyone. I just got the full kit last night from a company called AutoEase. Package arrived from Hong Kong and after inspecting all the parts, it not only looks incredibly dummy-proof, but everything is top-notch quality. I'm really impressed so far.

I'll be doing an install this Sunday and the entire process, plus a product review, will be on Trail4Runner.com - 5th Gen 4Runner Mods & 4Runner Accessories sometime next week.

In addition to that, we'll be hosting a group-buy right on the Trail4Runner website with better pricing than just buying it straight up from Autoease's website. I'm working with them now and testing some new features that will be available for the group buy. This will be their 2nd gen kit that has more subtle motor noises, more subtle locking noises and just an overall easier install process.

But as of right now, I'm overall impressed with the quality so far. Comes with the tailgate hatch button, interior dash button that fits into a blank, everything is wired up so for the most part it's plug-and-play, and the kit we'll do with the group buy will come with the foot sensor.

So, stay tuned!

Alright gents, running into one issue with the tailgate but figured I'd turn to the genius minds of the forum... the same people who dump tens of thousands of dollars into $40k SUV's only to damage them... real geniuses here!

The installation instructions definitely need some sprucing up, which I plan to do once this is complete. The manufacturer is telling me to connect into the two blue and white CANbus wires. I've downloaded a wiring diagram which may only be complicating matters, but there are about 50 blue and white wires down there. This is on the drivers side lower kick panel underneath the interior fuse panel. See attached picture with the red arrow pointing to the blue and white... any clue if those are the CAN wires?

Do you have a better description on what Can wires they want?
Here are a couple options:

Pin 6 at OBD2 violet
Pin 14 at OBD2 white

Thanks for the quick reply. The instructions say:

Step 5. Locate original CANbus signal for remote control, you can find it inside the “A” pillar in the Left Kick Panel under the Left Driver Side dashboard. Tap our white wire to original blue, tap our yellow wire to
original white.


I'm not sure what they mean by "original" but I'm guessing they're trying to say "OEM". Then, this is the picture they included in the instructions which does not look like the set-up on the 4Runner.
