Another Bilstein 5100 question

looks great! would you mind sharing your hub to fender measurements on both the front and rear?

thanks

I'll run out in a minute and measure... Will edit upon return.

Much appreciated JOHN_R1. I have 4 Wheel Parts install this for me, I just called and asked about the 1.5 spacer for the rear and he said i dint need it. Which is strange to tell a customer who wants to spend money no. He said with 5100's all the way around and 2.5 in the front it will be level and good to go. Said I only need the space if I'm going to be hauling a lot of weight in the back.

*should I just order it and have them install it anyways or will it give the the factory nose down rake ( which I hate ). I just dont wanna keep going back to fix things I could have just done in the beginning.

You're welcome. And in my case, just 5100's @ 2.5" in the front (no rear lift) set the truck 1/2" higher in the front than the back.
A 1" rear lift should give you a slight "rake" but close to level (see my pic above), 1.5" might be too much for you based on your comments.
And just to be clear, originally you were talking about "stock 20's" with the stock tires ?

#1 You put 5100's set at 2.5 in front with nothing in rear, no way will that be level.
Here is mine 5100 all the way around front set at 1.75 and 3/4 cornfed spacer in rear.
#2 Even at 1.75 with nothing in the rear the front sat higher than rear.

#1 - Not completely true...
With just front 5100's set @ max height, my 4Runner was only 1/2" higher in the front.
It was damn near "level", but with next to nothing in the cargo area.
And I find #2 comment hard to believe, based on my experience installing the lift on my 4runner.
FWIW, your truck looks like it sits about 1.5 inches higher in the rear. Looks like the same amount of "rake" I have, but I'm on somewhat even pavement.

:yo:

The pic of your truck the front still looks higher than the rear.

JOHN_R1- Yes I have stock 20's with stock tires. My main goal here is to have the truck lifted as much as possible without the need of new UCA's ( at the moment ) and having the truck level ( no RAKE ). The only thing that is ever really in the back of the truck is my 125lbs Great Dane and her bed.
The fact my X-REAS went out if forcing my hand a bit and now im trying to do what I can most cost efficiently. Also, dig the gun metal grey idea for the rims.

RED - Truck looks awesome man, thanks for the advice/input.

Would using the stock springs have anything to do with the rear sag at all ? Sorry if I'm asking dumb questions, 4th Runner I've owned, first time every lifting one.

Sorry for the delay, I got sidetracked after taking the pics...

It's definitely higher in the rear, even if your perception is different...
When I looked at it evenly, these are the measurements I saw. Even if the pics don't exactly show it.
Front = ~21.75" / Rear = ~22.75"

Ive had a lot of the same questions as Barker. It seems that forever reason there are a lot of different outcomes with installing these.

I was planning a 1.75 in the front to get the same result - mild-moderate lift without issues of alignment/ camber and try to eliminate the rake.

I also ended up buying OME Rear Springs under the impression from some reading that I would need new rear springs, but I think this will end up lifting my rear even higher as I dont routinely carry a ton of weight in the rear or tow, so I will likely not install them.

Just order the Wheelers T1/T13 springs to run with the 5100s (fronts set to zero)....you guys are making this way too difficult. Wheelers will assemble the coilovers for you prior to shipping. The lift will give you roughly 2.5 front, 1.5 rear and the rake is perfect.

I just had a shop install my 5100s with OME springs front and rear. I went with the 883 in the front and 898 in the rear. They ride awesome on the highway but when i go over bumps the rears seem to be very stiff and make a big thump.

Any recommendations to remedy this? It’s only been on for a day. Was thinking bigger tires cause i still have stocks on (waiting on the tax return). Or any recommendations for a different rear spring. Was thinkings of the 295 but I will lose the rear height.

898's are heavy lift coils. You need weight in the rear to have a more "comfortable" ride. Dobinsons and/or wheelers offer good coils for unloaded rears.

Do you have any pics and measurements of your setup?

That looks like pretty sound and economical advice for most of us with mild-moderate off roading and truck use - thanks

Picked up my t4r last friday, installed the lift on sunday

Bilstein 5100 all around
Fronts set at 2nd notch (.85")
Wheelers T1 Front
Wheelers T13 Rear

I absolutely hated factory rake, so I went for a 3.35/1.5 setup. Only driven like a mile since installing while I wait for alignment and wheels so nothing has settled yet. Truck appears level if you look at the fender gap only, but I'm pretty sure there's a very slight negative frame/body rake now.

2015 Tacoma TRD PRO front shocks and springe

I have a 2017 4runner SR5 4x4, just picked up a set of Bilstein TRD pro front shocks and the red springs, what rear shocks can I match them with? They have the following part number
PTR13–89150 RF .
They are OEM equipment and I was going to buy the rears online but the website states they will not fit. They would be from a 2013 Tacoma TRD pro.
I really don’t want to miss match my suspension so much that it drives funny. Any thoughts?

I just had my 5100's installed yesterday. Front set to 1.75 using all stock springs on all 4 corners. truck it perfectly level. Ride is 100x better as well.

Front ( center hub to top of fender ): 21.5"
Rear ( center hub to top of fender ): 21.5"

Sorry in advance because I know this has been covered but I have no time to scroll (tax season, 80hour weeks). Looking at the springs:

1) recommend these?
2) I’m currently set at 2.5 lift. Site says it’s best to set the 5100s at bottom clip. Does this mean I leave them at 2.5 or do I put them all the way in?
3) do I need anything else with the springs (other than the 5100s)? I actually like the rake so I don’t want the spacer

I appreciate it!

I just installed a full set of 5100s with Dobinsons 300 and 599 springs about 3 weeks ago. Completely changed the feel of the truck.

I am looking to go the same route with my 2015 SR5. How much lift do you get in the front and rear with this setup? Also, what is your setting for the 5100 in the front?

I neglected to measure before and after, but I think it was about 1.75 in the front and 1.25 or maybe a bit more in the back when it is unloaded. I set the front shocks at the bottom setting since the springs are taller. That way I can go up if I think I need more in the future.

How do your CV joints look at this height?

Question for anyone here who put on 5100's. Did any of you experience any weird sound from one of them in the front? In certain turns and always the same turns, I sometimes hear what almost sounds like a metallic rubbing. To me it sounds like something rubbing against a metal shroud/cover to something. I plan on having the wheels off next week anyway and will be taking a look. Just thought I'd ask and see if anyone has experienced this and what it turned out to be causing it.

Thanks.
