there is a street in DTLA (downtown los angeles) that curves little bit and is little tight. a beemer on the left comes to my lane and hits my left rear tire area then he chases me down. He seemed nice but has the ball to say i came into his lane and hit him.

We exchange information and i will be filing a claim because i have irrefutable video evidence.

they are so cheap on amazon so get you self one. I installed it on my sister's car and my gf's car.

Yeah agreed, especially with all these jackasses playing with their phones. Here's an old lady that side swiped me, she said she she put on her turn signal, haaaa like I can see them when she's parralel with me. Anyway I gave her some nice side graphics.

I am looking to replace my current camera. Which cameras seem to be reliable. The one I have now does not work all the time . It decided not to work last week when I was rear ended while I stopped for a school bus.

100% agree, when it comes down to it people look after their own interests and a lot of time as LEO's taking a collision report if it's a he said she said lane change, with no independent witnesses we have to go undetermined.

I have read from other reviewers that the lower end models work good for a year or two, then they start to diminish in performance. I had a Blackbox G1W for 2 years, and in November, it started to stop recording at its own will and do all sorts of funky things.

I researched and narrowed it down to a Vantrue N2. The reviews across the board were positive, and Uber drivers like it especially because of the rear facing camera.

For my purposes, I wanted reliability, front and rear facing camera and decent video quality (enough to distinguish license plates which this does). The N2 checks these boxes and didn't set me back that much. I bought my N2 from Amazon during a promotion period with a warranty. I've had it for close to two months and it's working perfect, even in frigid temps (4-5* F).

I did come across other higher-end cameras (BlackVue) that offered Wifi connectivity, higher frames per second and other goodies, which was tempting, but I can't justify spending $300+ on a dash cam. Given that dash cams haven't been around that long, they are still going through growth pains. I'd give it another 3-4 years before they refine them.

Anyone else?

I'm running the BlackVue DR650-S 2 Channel. The clarity is fantastic. There are plenty of videos of it in action on YouTube. It was a bit pricey, but it works great and the clarity is awesome. I also like that you can add the Power Magic Pro that you can turn on that will record any time your car is bumped while you're away from the vehicle. It shuts itself down if your battery drops to a certain level, so you don't have to worry about it draining your battery. The WIFI option is great too. No need to pull the chip and have a laptop to view files. It connects to your smartphone and you can download them right then and there.

My wife and I have never been at fault for an accident that was claimed (I did bump someone's bumper with no damage by accident once, I dropped my snacks...) and at the scene they always say how sorry they are, how they feel bad for not following the traffic signal, blah blah blah. Then you get a call from the insurance company saying the other driver claims it was your fault and you ran the red light. People only look after themselves nowadays, what happened to honesty and owning up to your mistakes?

Pretty close to what I'm going through right now. I rear ended a guy and his girlfriend last July. Someone in front of them jammed on the brakes at the last second in order to make a turn. I actually heard the tires screeching, which is what got my attention. I stood up on the brakes, but it was too late. I was probably doing 15 mph when I hit them in my Jeep SRT8. It pushed the bumper of the car in, but only put 2 L shaped cuts into my plastic bumper. I pulled over and jumped out and asked if they were okay. The guy had been driving, got out and walked over to the passenger side where I was talking to his g/f. I asked them repeatedly if they wanted me to call an ambulance, and they said no...there was no need. I asked them if they wanted me to call the cops...same response. After swapping info with them and repeatedly asking if they were okay, I told them I guess I was going to go, since I was running late for a family function. They agreed and I apologized again. About 2 hours later, I get a call from the lady. She said the State Trooper needed to talk to me. I asked, what State Trooper...and she said one stopped by and just needed some info from me. I was only 2 miles away from the Troop Station, so I just dropped by. So apparently they called the State Trooper after I left and told them they had been in an accident, but I just left. They are both suing me, claiming neck injury. This happened 4th of July weekend, and it still hasn't been settled. The State Trooper ended up giving me a Careless Operation ticket from this. When I asked why, he informed me that the lady that was "driving" was worried about my insurance. I told them that the guy had been driving, to which he replied, well they said she was driving because he didn't have a license. So, long story short...they wanted to make up some bullshit story about being injured, but couldn't do it while I was there because the guy would've gotten in trouble for driving without a license. The damage is hard to see in the pics, so tell me how anyone could have been hurt from it?

This is why I have a separate DD for around town. Try to only use the T4R for trips, and the more off road the better since there are fewer cars to hit you. We put so much work into these things that wouldn't get reflected in a settlement you'd get for an accident (in terms of my hours put into it mine should be worth $25,000 LOL) so I'd much rather have my DD get bashed up. Then I could get a new DD... But don't touch my T4R.

Lol, I can certainly understand that. Unfortunately for me though, I can't leave anything I drive alone. I've got over 30k in the drivetrain of my SRT8, and over 25k in the build of my Wrangler!
