Another RED/WHITE Interior Lights Option

Mines raised too and looks like there's some good news. There was another post about fitment issues on facebook and cartrimhome is going to look into moving the black blocks for a second revision.

I was also somewhat able to get my lenses to fit by loosening the PCB screws on the rear of the light. I'm able to get the center lens to fit flush but it also makes my sunroof and garage buttons a bit harder to push but it's a workaround for now till these get replaced.

I've given up on "before and after pictures! It took me a while today to effect a clean install of the passenger dome light panel. I was really careful to get the square hole as nice as possible for the switch body to poke through.

IMG_6865-1.JPG

I really hate the supplied foam double sticky as it is fragile. I used the GooBGone liquid to remove the originals and installed a substitute 3M double sticky.

Some more progress this morning. The experience with the dome light helped and these two went fairly quickly.

When the boards are plugged into the metal tabs you'll find you can align the board a bit for levelness.
Check alignment as you drill your holes so the pushbutton is not at an angle.
Be sure to use new sharp drills when drilling holes in the lenses, support the lens face on a block of wood and don't run
the drill too slow. Start with a small pilot hole, check for alignment, next size drill, check for alignment.....

The plastic of the lens does not seem to be too hard but I was overly cautious cautious about cracking them during drilling.

Not that I want to support this blatant knockoff of Arclights, but you need to remove the reflector for this to work.

I did remove the reflector and the fitment is still pretty bad. I wasn't able to close my garage this morning so I took out the console and tightened the screws. Now my center lens is loose and barely hangs on since I wore down the stubs that hold the lens in by pressing it in so many times since the corner pops out randomly.

I doubt cartrimhome did any fitment testing and simply just released them thinking they'd fit since it's a copy of arc lights board. I'm going to stop by my buddy's place this evening to take a look at his setup and see if there's any differences and report back.

Having read all of the concerns with fitment of the map lights I am taking this approach.

Metal reflector had to come out, not the least for space issues let alone the possibility of shorting out the back of the circuit board. I used some tools to reach in to bend back the reflector's small retention tabs and removed it. If I ever want to struggle with putting it back I can stash it away for that day.

The goofy plugs that go into the 194 bulb sockets are too long so I modified mine. I unplugged the wires from the 194 plug body then removed the wires and metal prong from the white plastic body. I cut some heat shrink tubing for each wire and one to go around both wires.

I shrunk the tubing around each metal prong and then shrunk the larger piece around the two insulated prongs.

On the white plastic 194 type plug I cut the rectangular plastic away from the two metal pins so that they are free and clear. Next I plugged the insulated wires directly onto the two metal pins and ended up with what is in the attachment. A shorter assembly where the wires can be bent over and clear the LED circuit board.

This kind of mechanical challenge is fun and is also what you have to expect when you buy a product of this type. Tomorrow I'll finish up the install and take some nighttime pictures.

Hello angry little Princess Grug. Can you show us on the anatomically correct doll where the creepy lady from China touched you? :moon:

SO funny. You want to mislead us you supposedly deal in electronics with those communist folks "daily" but you won't support their economy because they are stealing everything??

But you can't leave things at that goofy contradiction and whine on and on to stretch things even further, claiming you work SO hard to buy anywhere else but China....

So we'll add a lack of logic to your lack of the ability to read and a massively dismal lack of comprehension.

Go back to what you are an expert on: sitting in a Toronto office buying cheap toxic lead paint for Canadian children to chew on :drama:

Lots of hyperbole from you and little else. Look kid you want support communism have at it.

But considering your username what does it matter anyways huh?

Cute how easily you resort to insults to pad your replies... hint insults and cheap rhetoric dont really add to your word count but they sure do add to something else.

Look you go buy your communist crap, if your truck burns to the ground maybe we will all get lucky and youll be in it?>

Either way as you so right said the world is ending..so who cares..I know I sure dont care about you tiny :spit:

Success with the map light install! The key was crafting a foam spacer to set the height of the LED PCB to place the switch bodies up to the lens without pushing it out. Will have to watch it over the next week or so and see how it fares.

Well, this thread and the issues installing those knockoffs makes my decision to go with ARC Light pretty easy.

I agree it is always easier to spend some money after a vendor has gone through and provided a quality install document. I am more adventurous I guess. After having installed a full set of my Brand X LED lights the only issue has been the length of those goofy connectors. Modding those was super easy. All of the rest of the LED boards have been plug and play and I have $300 more to spend on other mods. :thumb:

I think some of the other "issues" may have been self inflicted by the person attempting the install? They probably should have bought ArcLight products too.

Agreed, so why are you such a rude person and keep calling me names?

Look maybe in school they taught you, you were special. I assure you, your not.

Everybody else can speak without resorting to name calling and revising peoples forum names. But apparently you cant?

Do you think you will make somebody seem angry if you keep calling them that? Kid its called projection, your projecting your own inner rage on the rest of us..hoping that we will what? Get angry over you and your commie Christmas lights?

BTW... some of the posts you quoted, are not actually mine. So try harder my little fruitcake of joy!

Your really quite emotional arent you? I suggest a glass of cranberry juice..perhaps it will help you..or not.

Try not to get so excitable kid, or at least if you have to, try and be funny so at least we can all have a laugh..rather than just read your emotional verbal diarrhea

Meanwhile hows those chicom lights treating you? Have the leds burnt out yet?

Its fitting you chose to illuminate your interior in red. Excellent choice comrade!! Chairman Mao would be proud!

Your thread has stirred me up so much I think im gonna go to Xenondepot or elsewhere and buy some US or EU lights made with UL certified components!

Toodles my new buddy.. message me if you get lonely...:baby:

You really shouldn't lie about the useless crap you "contribute" to this forum but it is typical of you to do so. Here everyone can see I made nothing up:

Nice, so somebody busting their $1000 OEM overhead console over an obviously flawed product is their fault and not that the Chinese knockoff company? Given that they copied (i.e. stolen) Arc's design, one would have thought they at least make sure it fits before selling it. Surprise: they didn't. You get what you pay for.

As for Chinese components, so what if Arc uses them? It's one thing for a competitor to come out with a cheaper product with a different design, but it's a completely different story to steal someone's R&D and profit off of it. But of course stealing is a concept you don't understand because you're too busy being in bed with your new Chinese overlord. So do yourself a favor and stop now because you're just digging yourself into a deeper hole with your petty responses. :fish:

So you dream up images of other Canadians in drag??? Ouch. Is that what you do on the Internet all day?? You are definitely on the wrong forum.

I see that you enjoy your "I'm a victim" mentality and it really shows too. What happened to your "it's gonna' catch fire argument? Oh wait. You have no proof? Gotcha.

So your whole new argument is that it's OK to support the evil overlord Chinese Communists as long as you launder your money through someone who claims "American Made" and overcharges you for Chinese parts??? Wow. Who would have known....

LOL! Who would actually want an inbox full of their trolling? I'd be perfectly happy if they ceased their off-topic posts in my thread but that is not how trolls operate.

Once again, back on topic! :bluejump:

VR the guy has mental issues. Hes unstable..prone to emotional outburts. Likely hes like mid 20s..with some self esteem issues.

He thinks hes funny, but regrettably he isnt...if he was it would be better for the rest of us!

But no, our lonely little fella is just mad at the whole world. Kid you think you have a few of us angry..again your weak projection.

If I and others were even remotely angry you would know it... until then its funnier to just laugh at you and your IP stealing chicom soon to be up in flames truck..

Hopefully they are full of magnesium so you get it nice and hot when they go up in smoke :zoom:

Still gonna be my stalker?
