Any V8 swaps for 3rd gens ?

Looking at buying a 3rd gen, Ive seen V8 swapped older T4Rs, theres one for the Jeep Xj here
Chevrolet & GM Engine Conversions into the XJ Cherokee, MJ Commanche
Ive seen the Lexus and newer toyota v8s swapped in but what about an LSx ?

I'm sure but I would just supercharger it.

If I was going to do any swap, it would be a 2jz-gte.

the 4.7 swap seems meh kinda dull
I've always been a fast car guy-my last mustang went 9.50's at 140+
what kinda gains are ppl seeing with the trd supercharer ?
a 6L gmc LSx swap like offered for the jeeps would be cool.

You're in the wrong truck. 4runners are heavy and have sluggish reliable engines. Even if you swap a chevy v8 in it, it will still be a heavy truck. What are you trying to do with this? Run track? My 5 speed has enough get-up for me but I call my moms Honda sedan fast..

Just a "peppy" DD. 4wd launches with lots of torque are fun )I used to have a 1998 Grand Cherokee 5.9)

You guys need to do some maintenance. The V6's can keep up with the ricer Honda's.

Yeah my old 2004 Dodge pick-up weighed in at 5180 lbs with me in it,but they offset that by putting a Viper V-10 in it. Sure was fun. :thumb:

Agreed. Somebody needs to come up with an LSx swap kit....if it can and is commonly done in the Jeep XJ......

There's a build thread with a guy who built his 3rd gen with a sas first then his own custom long travel IFS then the last few pages covers some info on a lsx 6.0 or 6.2 can't remember which... I'd try to find it but I'm on my phone, I'll look tomorrow and post it up.

I too am used to and spoiled by the power of a truly fast car. before this truck I had a built daily G8 GT with the 6.0 pushing 405hp/411tq to the rear wheels. My truck now has the supercharger and 2.2 pully and still feels like a total dog. I agree Chevy 5.3 or 6.0 would be perfect.
