Anyone actually wheel with wheel spaces???

I've done 1,000's of hardcore offroad wheeling miles with generic, non-hub centric, spacers on a wrangler, and I lived. It was a toy that I beat the crap out of. Bent steel wheels, broke axles, ball joints, etc... But never had a problem with a wheel falling off. lol
When I put them on my 4Runner, I will be buying a quality set of spidertrax spacers. Simply for the piece of mind now that my family goes with me!

Well, Ive made up my mind and Im gonna get some spidertrax spacers. Never knew I would start such an argument but entertaining none the less. Marshall, your points are more on point than the other guy who seems to really want to argue chemistry of metals. All I know is that chemistry is hard, ill stick to the guy with experience. Plus, we all know red lactate is used on the spaceship. Thanks for the advice. oh by the way, your 35's are bad A. makes me want to start cutting shit to fit some!

OP, get the Spidertraxx and mount them correctly. Don't listen to 99% of the stupid azz "horror stories" out there because you're not hearing the right story. Do a search on the difference between spacers and adapters and you'll understand why people get so pissed about this. It's always the dumb sh*t that doesn't install something correctly who spreads the word across every board that a certain product is bad yet there's never a person who does things correctly that chimes in on how great a product has served them.

I feel like I have to post in this epic thread just to be part of it!
I didn't read all the replies and can only share my limited experience. I have run All Pro 1.25" wheel spacers on my 4runner without loctite for ~20k miles, rotate my tires every 3k miles and have checked the torque every time and never felt the nuts tighten (i.e. they have not loosened since install). Truck has seen a fair variety of driving conditions.
Its been a few years since materials class but IIRC the principle that makes nuts/bolts work is the elastic deformation of the metal. If the metal did not want to return to its original ( non stretched) state there would be nothing holding the nut on and it would essentially feel loose. For all the metals I am aware of this holds true so I would venture to say that if my original OEM lugs/Wheel combo didn't need loctite neither do the lugs on the spacer as they get tightened/checked just as often as the lugs on the wheels would on my truck. I doubt loctite hurts anything and if the Manufactures recommend it it would be sensible to follow.......can't even remember now why I didn't loctite them in the first place
P.S. I have had Discount Tire rotate the tires on a couple occasions and they had no issues with the spacers. I let them know upfront and even asked that they check them with a torque wrench (can't remember the # I wrote down in the manual). On these occasions I am assuming the tech was truthful in his response that they were already tight.

I am SO GOD DAMN SICK of the mis-information on this topic.
SPACERS ARE FINE. EVERY DUALLY PICKUP ON THE ROAD HAS A FACTORY INSTALLED 6" SPACER.

Red lactate. I'm gonna say I did that on purpose and it's not dumb autocorrect that made that joke...as to tires and rotations with spacers, not really concerned at all. The discount tire I go to is pretty awesome. I've bought 5 sets of tires from them to date. I can only hope some day I get a picture of my runner do awesome flex pics like Marshall!
