Anyone bought this timing belt/water pump kit on Amazon?

Has anyone bought this and can comment on its quality? The few reviews posted are positive.

The other link I commonly see is on eBay from seller aircabinman, for $302:

That amazon looks like a great price. I had purchased one kit for $128 but it didnt have drive belts, t-stat/gasket and the tensioner pully. I already had the t-stat replaced this past fall and I ended up buying the drive belts seperatly for $36.00. A tensioner pulley is around $65.00 maybe? and another $15 for the t-stat. So all that seperatly would be in the 250 range. $222 for everything 1 stop shop with excellent brand items? Not bad. I'd say go for it.

haven't bought it or used it. But both those kits look good. The ebay one seems to have all OEM parts except maybe the crank/cam seals while the amazon one seems to have a few non-OEM parts but mostly OEM.

I'm basing that all off memory though, so I could be wrong. I think either one would do you well and don't see any obvious reason that you couldn't save a few bucks and use the amazon one.(it would be nice if Amazon was a little more clear on the manufacturer of the individual parts though--I see that they list all the manufacturers but don't say for which parts)

I have used GMB (Japanese) parts on a Camry before and to this day (six years later) they are still running strong.

That said, I'd buy the air cabman kit. By using OEM supplied manufacturer parts, you can rest easy.

I puchased a kit from Amazon for my Xterra. It's the same distributor that sells this kit. The company is called "Timing Belt Kit" and they have a website with more info if you'd like to take a look. Antway, all the parts that I received for the X seemed to be of OEM quality and I had no issues with the install. Been about 3 months since I did the job.

I would go with air cabman like LittleCaesar suggests, It may be a little more up front but you can't go wrong with OEM parts.

From Amazon, right? Do you remember what brands the water pump and timing belt were? One of the reviewers said the water pump was Aisin, which is OEM and good. The picture on the page shows a GMB water pump. Thanks.

I just received this kit today. I'm pretty impressed. For the price I was a little worried it might have some cheap Chinese knock off parts. Well, happily, it came with a "made in Japan" Bando timing belt, made in USA Bando accessory belts, genuine Toyota tensioner assembly (it's pre-compressed so it eliminates the need for a $30 special tensioner compressor). GMB idler bearings, 82 degree C thermostat (no brand), Aisin water pump, which pleased me, as the photo shows GMB. Aisin is the OEM brand, and is same company that builds the transmission for the 3rd Gen 4Runners. The water pump is also the newer metal gasket kind, so you don't need to mess with the Toyota black sealant. Also included are cam and crank seals which I'm hoping I won't need, but nice to have on hand. Also, shipping was really fast, I received it the day after I ordered it!

Yeah, just for fun I called the dealer for a quote on replacing all of these things - $1065. A good part of that is labor, but still. I advised them to have a nice day.

Yes I did get it from amazon, its a GMB brand here is a pic and the timing belt is mitsubishi timing belt.

Holy crap, I'm sitting here closely inspecting the water pump in your picture, while also thinking that seeing t4r.org on your computer screen is a little like looking into a mirror reflecting another mirror, and I drift up in the picture and see two orange glowing eyes staring back at me. I about jumped out of my chair. :wow: Now that's a good-looking dog! :bravo:

I think the tensioner did come with the pin in it I can take a pic when i get home. This time with no dog in the background, I didn't even notice that my dog was in the pic till you said something.

New Toyota tensioners come with the pin pre-installed. I have never seen a hydraulic tensioner made by anyone other than Toyota. So if it were not I would be surprised and suspicious.

I'm thinking I'm going with this kit as well and having a local mechanic put it in for me. Hopefully it all works out!

As I was about to pull the trigger on the Amazon kit, the price jumped from $222 to $258. While still less than on eBay, I went with aircabinman's simply because the water pump is the OEM brand (Aisin). I'm 99.9863% sure that the GMB water pump in the Amazon kit would be just fine, but I think it would still bug me because I'm just a tiny bit OCD. Aircabinman (IF that is his real name...) got it to me quickly and well packaged, so I can't complain. It's currently sitting on the floor patiently waiting for me to install it next week.

I went with the one on Amazon and all parts were great. The water pump that I received in the kit was an Aisin pump. Been about a month since I installed and no issues so far. I did my research on t4r on how to do it. Lots of good info and advise here. Doing it yourself is a great way to save about 4 Benjamin's.
