Anyone buy the Tire Warranty?

Considering our tires(245-60-20) start at $183 a piece at a popular website, is it worth forking over the extra $300-$400 for the tire warranty(hazard)? It covers all the tires; and if the tires get changed within the warranty, it covers those tires too. They tried to sell it when I bought the car but I passed on it. It covers 5 years, unlimited miles, and you pay a small $15-$35 deductible for repairs or replacements, rather than $183. After doing the math, it's $6.70 dolars a month. Thoughts? :ybrick:

Heck freaking no!!! Those stock tires are the iggest POS ever! They will last u 3 years max lol... U gotta be crazy do buy warrantee on them

I would never pay for stuff like that.

I would actually drive to the tire store and see what they would give you for those tires, then get some Nittos. With Nittos, even my explorer feels like it is glued to the road.

Holy crap! The Discount Tire certs are like $20 each. That is a huge rip off man, don't waste the money. You are well on your way to some 285's with that kind of money!

I agree with the post about the Nitto's. They are a nice tire and are rated at 50k miles, got no complaints so far with mine.

No! $400 is two new tires. When's the last time you destroyed a tire and had to buy a new one? Almost never? Even if you puncture a tire, odds are you can get it repaired for that deductible cost.

ALL warranties; cars, TVs, washing machines, computers, are the highest profit margin product in their respective industries. Comes from our pocket.

Save yer money, or put it on some better tires.

$300-$400 for tire warranty? Ask yourself what will that much money buy over an OEM tire's life: (Let's assume those tires will get you 30K miles safely)

1. Almost two brand new bargin tires
2. Two nice slightly used tires from craigslist
3. 10 tire repairs
4. Several nice dinners with your significant other

Just stop for a minute and think: "Historically, how many tires do I cut, blow or puncture every few years?" If you are like me, not very many. Save your money and put it towards a new decent set down the road.

I wouldn't buy the warranty for that price. First of all you still have to pay deductible if you catch a nail. And this deductible is about the price you pay for repair so warranty here doesn't make sense. In other words you can use this warranty only if you need to repalce tire. So the question is how many tires do you normally replace due to road hazzards in 5 years? If less than 2, then again you're better off keeping $300-$400 in your pocket.

And another thought is that you might want to replace stock tires in year or two, stock tire are not the best ones.
