Anyone here have strobes installed?

Just wondering if anyone has integrated strobe lights installed on their trucks?

I don't expect to need this function often, but there are times when pulled over on the side of a road where I don't feel the standard 4-way flashing pattern cuts it. I volunteer with search and rescue, so I'm sometimes stopped in areas that are not ideal, but dictated by the situation.

I know for earlier generations TapTurn is an easy drop-in option for creating more visual strobe patterns (e.g. on a FJ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfujwKevDWQ) - but it sounds like the flasher is now integrated in the ECU so that is not an option for the 5th gen. Which is too bad, because that would be the best solution I think in my case.

Is the only alternative adding dedicated strobe bulbs in each turn signal? If so, has anyone done this? While I'm generally pretty handy, that project seems a little daunting without at least a lot of encouragement and/or pictures to follow.

I know I could also add strobes behind the front grill and in the rear window, but I want to be completely "stealth" and not look like a police car.

The key is to be noticed, unlike some cop cars that have WAY TOO MANY lights and tend to blind other drivers.

Taillights and two in the grill should be sufficient.

Seriously, where are standard flashers not visible? Unless you just want to be quasi official and if that's the case then go big.
 
Honestly the title made me flash back to hearing that shitty "Sandstorm" song...but yeah OP has a legit use, at least you use your truck for something useful besides posing on a landscape rock in front of the handicap spot at the mall.
 
I have an strobe option on my Spod too be honest with you...... its pretty bad ass, Other wise when we go roading i have my Speedtech lights more than 14 different strobe options i ended up pulling off my tacoma before i sold it nothing but good things about their product

For example, last year in a snow storm a car in front of me lost control and went off the highway. I pulled over to help, and put on my 4 way flashers as I pulled as far off as I could. But since there were snowbanks I was not able to get off as far as I'd have been able to in the summer. The problem with the 4-way flashers is that everyone was driving slow and most drivers had their flashers on as a result - so for someone approaching from behind, it may not have been apparent that I was actually stopped since most people had their flashers on. The rapid wig-wig pattern stands out more from the ordinary and would hopefully have resulted in me standing out from everyone else.

In general I find the strobe pattern to be more dazzling, as it has far more blinks per second/minute than the regular slow 4 way flash. I assume that's why most emergency services use it, opposed to a uniform slow on/off blinking.

Usually with SAR we have police close the road off or provide a cruiser to stop/slow traffic on approach, but there are also lots of times that you're on your own and stopping somewhere random because it's more advantageous to your assigned entry point. I ideally would love to have strobes hooked to a second battery, but that's probably overkill for now.
