Auto Headlight Problem

Has anyone had problems with the auto headlights in 2010 Limited not coming on during dark rain storms, works fine in a garage, or at dusk dark?

I wouldn't say it was a "problem" per se, but there are times where I manually turn them on. I have had some rain storms where it just wasn't "dark enough", but honestly, I manually turn my lights on anytime its raining - sun or dark. Just helps others to see me so I do it out of habbit. It works very well everywhere else tho, just like you stated. I don't think you have an issue, it just depends on how much light is hitting that sensor to tell if it's "dark"

It's normal in my opinion.

According to the 2010 owners manual (pg 639) you can have your dealer change the Light sensor sensitivity, which has five "levels"... that might help.

Do you use Rain-X?

My brother uses the auto-headlight feature on his Acura MDX and, upon bringing it to the dealer for having similar issues as yours was told that Rain-X may interfere with the wavelengths their sensors use...

Whether that's correct~ I have no idea, nor do I have a clue if Toyota's sensors are on the same frequency, though I can't imagine why they wouldn't be an industry standard.

I leave my headlights on 24/7 to be even more visible to the ever-present distracted drivers here on Long Island... and fwiw- I can't imagine NOT using Rain-X, and would do so even if it meant having to turn my lights on & off manually~ the stuff just plain WORKS!
