Thanks, that looks great! I think I'm def. going to go this route. The only thing that bothers me is that the Eclipse dealer I called here (Atlanta) was insisiting I needed to pay extra for them to hook up the steering wheel controls. I told them I KNEW it was plug and play, how Fujitsu 10 made both systems, etc. He insisted that wasn't the case. Either way, I'm not going there b/c either they're a) incompetent or b) dishonest.
There is a local guy selling a system for 1k (he got into a car accident). I'm thinking of getting that and taking it to BestBuy.

The warranty is only to the original purchaser. The price is right so you might take the chance.
Except for three wires, everything plugs in. Many here have installed the unit themselves.
The long thread on the OEM unit includes photos of all the connections.
I am biased since I am a Public Safety tech but I would never let some kid from Best Buy tear up my truck!

Find yourself a nice local Audio shop with some references from others that have used them. I learned the hard away :bash:

I purchased them locally. I went to the website and looked up local dealers. I went to one in Cerritos that sounded high end and they had them in stock. I am sorry that I forgot the name as they were very helpfull.
Crutchfield carries Scosche so I would guess that they could supply them.

AVN5435 & iPod
Someone was asking about iPod integration in an earlier post. I installed the Peripheral iPod2car for Eclipse with the AVN5435. This allows you to use the AVN's track forward and reverse or the steering wheel buttons for controlling your iPod. You can get the Eclipse adapter from Crutchfield for $10. Buying online will also save you about $70 off the retail price. The only problem I have is that turning the 4runner key on and off pauses the iPod. I figured out that reversing two songs and then forward will unpause it.

It looks like Crutchfield no longer sells the AVN5435 and now sells the AVN5500. There is basically no info on what's updated with this unit. I even called eclipse tech support and the guy told me it's the same thing, except the AVN5500 is "iPod ready". So then I compared their feature sets on the web site, and it shows both as being compatable with the non-existant Eclipse ipod adapter.
I'm guessing the mapping software has been updated with this release? Does this mean that people with 5435's will not get updated?
I can't imagine why they would release a new model that is exactly the same as the older model.

you can purchase the scosche double din kit from cardomain.com for about $8.
They have good prices on other stuff too such as car RCA cables to hook up your amps.
I just purchased an AVN5435 and it'll arrive Wednesday.
I'm coming from an JBL-6disc changer and I'm trying to do the entire exchange with someone else trim pieces so I could make my stereo look stock.
Wish me luck. I'm really excited. I already have the rest of the system (2 sets of infinity components and a basslink) hooked up to the stock system.
Can't wait to drive to Vegas while watching a movie!

i have the avn5500 with the new v1.3 2006 map dvd anyone want a copy ??? lol jk dunno what it will work on tho. where did you guys mount the eclipse antena ? im having a hard time getting a signal. i put mine all the way as far back as i could in between the air ducts. also whats the secret menu commands ?
