AZ locals, gauging interest. Not local? Still gauging...

I test drove a Tundra tonight. My 4runner is nice, but once I punched that 5.7, I think I can understand some of your desire to make the switch.

I'd say with what you like to do and with what you have and what you want.....go for it, all in all everybody in your family will be happier.

Well, I pulled the trigger. Picked up a 2012 Crewmax 4x4 with the 5.7 and TRD Off Road package last night. Between the savings for buying the 2012 over the 2013 and 0% interest I am less monthly than my 4R was with nothing down. Brought a check for $5k for the down payment than came to my senses that it would be crazy to put money into something that is a zero return so I left it in the bank.

Pulled a ton of parts off the 4R last night, it is weird to see it without the sliders, rack and such on it. It was a ton of fun while it lasted, I have nothing bad to say about the 5th Gen 4R. It served our family quite well, and I feel it would have for years to come absent the desire to increase our towing capacity as the family expanded. I got a good amount in trade in, a good amount off on the CM, and was able to give another forum member a good deal on some parts and even help turn wrenches to help put them on so all is well. This is a great forum full of some awesome guys. I will still be around to mess around here.

I have a few things left if anyone is interested. Make offers, they do me no good hanging in my garage.

Console Vault with pin lock
WeatherTech black digital fit liners for all three rows
OEM sunshade
CURT front hitch (if I go back out and take it off lol)

I was checking these out while I was in for my 1st service this weekend and dayummm they are huge. Very nice ride, congrats! If I had use for a truck I'd definitely put this at the top of my list.

Congrats........let the photo whoring begin

Sent a couple of PMs, but I'll put it here too... talk to me about that console vault.

Replied.

To anyone sending me PM's, I will get back to you. Between working on getting my Tundra done before my new daughter is born, work, and getting the house ready for her my life is quite busy now.

For those interested I have so far:
-tinted the windows 5%
-Level 8 Guardian 18x9
-275/70 Duratracs (33.2")
-AFE intake
-Magnaflow exhaust
-console vault
-Weathertech liners
and a few other small things. I am trying to decide on just leveling the front, a 3" spacer lift, or another OME 3" lift. I loved my OME lift, but that means that after pulling the wheels/tires and suspension I paid $3k for a TRD sticker, captains chairs, and some skid plates. I feel like I should do some Rough Country spacers for now and at 50k or so pull them and do full suspension then. We will see which side of me wins.

Here she is. I will miss my 4R, but this will do! (I know LimaMike, I am a traitor)

Looks good Brock! Although, you know your going to regret not getting the OME as soon as you put on that spacer. Atleast I having a lot of guilt about not going the suspension route the first time.

Good luck with the new daughter!

All parts are now gone. Dealership sold the truck the day after it went on the lot as well. Thanks guys, and enjoy your new toys Logan!

Thank you! I do not think I will on this one. I only ditched the spacers on the 4R because of the nose dive. I loved the OME's, but nobody at Toytec wants to return calls and I am tired of waiting. I have an appointment for 9am tomorrow to get the Rough Country 3/1.5 installed for $350 OTD with an alignment. If I decide later I do not like it, I am not out much of anything just like when I bought the spacer lift on the 4R. It is worth the shot to get some life out of the TRD shocks.

Wow! Modding the Tundra already? You have a very patient wife, Brock. Truck looks good, BTW. :thumb3:

Ya she deals with a lot being with me LOL. Thanks man, we are really happy with it. It is nice to have some power under my foot again :driving:

Thanks again Brock!

I absolutely love all the new goodies and it was nice that we were able to help each other out on this deal. Stuff you don't need anymore and at a great price for me. It was great to meet your wife and daughter (who is hilariously adorable) and very nice to meet you. I'll definitely let you know if I have some free time in December/January to go wheeling.

Thanks again!

I got my lift on this morning. Looks to have a reverse rake, but they are dead on at 40.5" from ground to fender at the middle of the hub. I will see how it settles and add some shackles to gain an inch or so in the rear if needed. I am pretty happy now, I can leave it alone for awhile LOL

Not a problem at all man, I am glad we could work the deal! You have my number, I am ready to go any time! Enjoy your new toys!

Yeah, it does look like the front is noticeably higher than the rear. Aren't you worried that by levelling it you're now going to be high in the front when you tow a heavy trailer? Don't forget to get your headlights adjusted now so you don't blind oncoming drivers.

I do not understand why it looks like that with the measurements being dead on. Gotta be the body lines or something.

My headlights have an electronic adjustment :trophy: I just set them from 0 to 4 and they are back to where they were. I ordered airlifts for the rear already so I want to see how they adjust the height before buying shackles. Odds are I will buy the shackles as well, I cannot see the airlifts giving me more than .5" based on what they gave me on the 4R.

You need to measure the distance from the front of the rocker to the ground, and the rear of the rocker to the ground and compare those measurements.

On most vehicles, the rear fender openings are higher in the body line to give the appearance of a level vehicle while loaded.

You definitely have some butt squat based on the pics. I think those airbags will give you more lift in the Tundra since they act differently on a leaf spring than a coil spring setup. Guess we will find out, right?

Truck looks good! If fuel mileage wasn't important to me I would have gone with a Tundra.
