Battery to handle Winch & ~1000 watt stereo

Big 3 upgrade DONE! went with a Duralast Gold , the guy tried to sell me into an Optima, in front of 6 or so other customers i asked him why the weaker battery was better (showing the CCA rating, and 130 min reserve the Optima didn't have) and then went on to ask if Optima was better why they warrantied there product for 2 fewer years? and how my Optima failed after about 1 year of use about 5 years ago, before i had put any real strains on it like i due have now.... I wasn't quiet about it either, talking over another guy i think was the manager, he was dumbfounded! ha ha....

so anyway, the chassis ground, used an existing bolt hole (drilled it out) and attached a side-post battery terminal adapter: (the role of red wire is for a future electric project, pink duct tape for safety! lol)

for the engine ground i used the Dip Stick mounting bolt, also hard to see in the picture is the rest of the 4 AWG primary wire coming from the Alternator plug directly to the batteryterminal (under the grey plastic cap):

And Done! she runs so much smoother now, i can't really put my finger on it, but everything just seams to be running better! and even slightly more power it seams! ha, wishful thinking.... assuming the door locks don't eject from their resting places now, i think this was a GREAT UPGRADE! thanks for all the input gentlemen!

Gents & Ladies, i just want to emphasize how much the "Big 3 upgrade" has improved EVERYTHING electrical on the 4runner, obviously the starter is faster and allot less strained, but everything from my Stereo sounding more clean, to even my brakes working better!!! (not sure how that happened) EVERYTHING THAT USES ELECTRICITY and some that don't directly run on electricity, are working better! hard to be sure, but i think my MPG has improved also (the gauge hasn't dropped as much as it should in past ~50 miles).


If you have ANY desire to make your rig run better, DO THE BIG 3 UPGRADE!!!!! you won't regret it!

I'd like to go on record and recommend you move that engine grounding point directly to the block. You may never have a problem there, but in my experience it is a bad connection waiting to happen. Just my Dos Centavos
