Best Handgun for Concealed Carry

The only problem with G19 and G17 is that you're technically supposed to carry them with the dildo CA 10 round mags, which somehow manage to make them unreliable.

Good Point. From my list, I would recommend the M&P Shield for a roster approved option.

I love Glocks. They are simple and they just work. I currently have a G27 to carry when concealed. I've probably shot close to 1,000 rounds out of it in it's lifetime and it's never failed on me.

Best "small" gun that I have ever shot (and its my carry gun now) that doesnt feel and shoot like a "tiny" gun, is the Sig P365
With the 12 round mag it fits your hand well, and no other gun its size holds that many rounds.

I hardly notice my Ruger is even in my waistband most of the time. It's comfortable accurate and Ruger is an amazing company for services. I have never had a jam and I trust my life with this handgun. 7 round mags and tons of custom options. I also carry a full-size series 80 1911 .45 cal.

I have never heard of this. My glocks run everything no problem (even the couple of "dildo" mags I got for free). Ets, magpul, g18 mags, with or without base pads, you name it. It's a glock. Maybe something is wrong with yours?

Glock 19

the Glock 19 is my choice. I have an Uncle Mike's Size 16 fabric "inside belt" holster. its comfortable. I do have two hair bands securing the case to the gun as i do remove it from my waist frequently.

i opted for the glock, well, because its a glock. Glad i did because being that the glock has a square frame, it allows for more contact with the magnet. I secured a magnet to the right side of my dash and it holds it very nicely and secured through the fabric holster. Quick Draw Status!

Please buy a real holster. Not only are uncle Mike's holsters poorly made, they have horrible retention which can lead to disaster. Kydex/hybrid holsters aren't that much to begin with; a holster is an important piece of gear. Dont skimp.

The one thats always on your person and chambered. Dont listen to "whats the best" go to a range (do they have them in cali?) And rent a few. See what you feel comfortable with. Then train, like the life of your loved ones depend on it and become well versed in the laws of where you live and travel. Dont underestimate a good holster, most people that carry have a box of old holsters that just didnt work for them. Most off the shelf holsters are crap. Oh, did mention training? Keep in mind its a life style, its not as easy as " becoming CC because of the crazy race baiting politics of the media" its a responsibility that many dont take seriously. The "gun" is not the weapon, the person behind it is.

And train... Train like your life (and freedom from prosecution) depends on it. It does. Make sure your training includes when NOT to use the tool... The tool many of us carry each and every day is not a panacea... it's a very specific tool for a very specific and deliberate action at exactly the right moment...

Of them all, perhaps the Sig P239 could fit the bill, if it fits you and your budget. This option would require no special California Compliant Magazine, and I can attest to the beauty and function that is the P239.

Close 2nd, in my opinion, would be the Glock 19, Gen 5. You will have to buy compliant magazines and you will need to upgrade the stock Glock sights.

It's my understanding that the Glock Gen 4 and Gen 5 pistols are not CA compliant and therefore not legal to purchase.

However, I believe the S&W M&Ps are.

I carry a S&W M&P40c in a Don Hume leather IWB holster for CCW, but I'm not in California.

Fits like a glove in my 4Runner's center console.

Get whatever you shoot the best and is reliable.

I always point folks in the direction of M&P or Glocks.

There is a reason those two CONSTANTLY win contracts with military and Law Enforcement agencies around the world.

They both have great armorer and aftermarket support/options.

They are both designed simple/well with low bore axis and minimal "Gucci" shit to go wrong.

Both companies have quality QC/QA.

Sig of the past (1980's) was great, they are hit and miss today, especially in the QC/QA department.

Something that also pisses me off about sig- their engineers/designers have this idea that they must have proprietary parts in every gun for some reason- I mean come on a Sig 1911 has a proprietary extractor that is unavailable anywhere except from Sig and a limited number of armorers who don't sell them.

Every other 1911 has the same extractor- but Sig just had to monkeyfvck theirs with a proprietary extractor- one that doesn't do anything better, and arguably does some things worse than the original design.

I like a lot of other handguns for range days and fun including several sigs, but I only carry M&P's and Glocks for SD/HD.

Do yourself a favor and just go with an M&P or a Glock.

Oh, and get a real holster, fabric/nylon is a joke and can seriously get you or someone else hurt. DO NOT skimp on training or holsters/ammo.

I'm also a fan of the Glock 19. But I carry the M&P just because I like the size and safety.

My Gen 5 G19 MOS is a pretty accurate pistol... At 20 yards...
