Bilstein 5100 - .85 Pic`s

Newb question, can I put 5100s set at 1.75 on the front and add ome 895e's to the rear, using the stock rear shocks(2015sr5)?

Glad I stumbled into this thread... Couple new developments with my business have severely cut my lift/wheels/tires budget. Was contemplating the Bilstein route as a bandaid until next year, the pics have me convinced. Think the Bilsteins all around with SAW coils with some 285 KO2s on the stock Trail rims keeps me in budget.

Stinks because a couple weeks ago the budget was Boss lift, TC ucas, Method wheels...ugh! The joys of owning your own business :ybrick:
I was in the same boat as you, on a budget looking for a good lift with UCA's and the Bilstein's as a band aid until next year. I really wanted the ICONs and tried to look on ebay for good deals and even tried to offer best price. Instead lurked around on T4R and ask tons of questions with a few local lift shops/T4R members and decided on the Bilstein 6100/5160's with the 6100's set at 2.5, with ICON 2" rear coils, BFG KO2's on TRD Pro's. So far I love the ride and the set up and sits perfectly with no rubbing of the tires.

i'm not sure why you wouldn't go ahead and install the rear 5100s at that point?

1) the rear 5100's accommodate 0" to 2" of lift (provided by the 895e's) so they should perform much better than stretching the stock shocks
2) the front and rear shock valving/etc would be matched.
3) the rear 5100s' 33-187174 are $75 a pop (front/rear pkg can be purchased thru forum vendor Total Automotive for under $350 iirc)

so yes i would say you could, but it certainly wouldn't be an optimal setup.

The plan is to get 5160s for the rear, when i can, in the mean time I'm just making do with stock, unless it will cause issues.

.85 in the front. 10 mm OME spacers on each rear spring.

Not the best pics. Just got the alignment done and it is the PERFECT amount of lift and the ride quality is 100% better. I'll post more later

Was one .10mm spacer used to level out the leaning side or did you add 2 to give a little added lift in the back?

One 10mm spacer on either side to give the rear some lift. Wanted to keep some rake(I hate saggy rear ends). If you put one of these on one side you would have a noticable lean. Even with a full tank its not a 10mm difference.

Looks great. I have a set of 5100's sitting in my cargo area. I think you just made up my mind to for me to get the trim spacers. Used them on my 3rd Gen also and they worked great.

Some more flat shots of .85" front 10mm rear.

Thanks for the pics. I have identical plans when the time comes to replace tires.

Can you comment on ride quality differences with the Bilsteins? Also, if you have a chance could you measure from the center of the hub to the fender on the front? I'd like to know about how much lift the .85 setting gave you. :thumb3:

Ride quality is drastically better. Damper and firmer when braking and turning. Best $300 you can spend on your truck. I'll have to measure from the center hub later but it came out to almost exactly 1" of lift on the .85 setting. The rear gained about .5 inches from the 10mm spacer.

2013 TE here with KDSS. I had Bilstein 5100s installed today on all fours; set at .85 in the the front. Ride height changed from 22/20" back/front to 22/21". Loving the ride and stance, should have done this 3 years ago. I had 5100's on my '07 Tacoma and they were great.

Moderator: newbie here; is there a way to flip photos, thanks.

BAM!

Your ride looks awesome! I'm searching around for new shocks because after installing my 275 KO2's, I feel the tires really don't match the suspension any more. I'm not sure if it's the added weight of the E load tires, or the stiffer sidewalls, but my gut tells me I'm under-dampened. I realize you have the 265's, so they may be C load, but did you experience a general improvement in comfort/control moving to the 5100's, or just "performance" (i.e. better response in turns, etc., but ride harsh as $#!%)? Thanks!

I'm reviving a dead thread. Could people please post up more pics of a 5.5 gen with fronts at .85 and stock tire size? Much of this post is dialogue, and some pics of higher setups than .85. There aren't a lot of .85 pics as the title of the post indicates. Thanks to all in advance. I'm looking to run .85 front with stock tire size on a 2016 sr5p 4wd, and want to see how it looks on a wide survey of other rigs.

Look at Haydenatx post above. His is a great looking rig, super white, stock size tires. Only difference is he added 10mm spacers in the rear (~.5" of lift) to keep some rake and installed the TRD wheels. This is essentially what it would look like with very slightly less rake.
