Bilstein 5100s at .85" with stock springs

Here are the Pics I promised. Black makes it hard to see wheel wells in the side pic.

Installed a set of FJ springs over the Thanksgiving break. Kept the 5100s at the .85" setting and now I am sitting a little high in the front. Probably due to my truck being a V6 and 2wd. Will live with it for a week or so and see if it grows on me - otherwise I will lower the shock setting or throw a small spacer on the back.
Unfortunately my dad had the truck up in the air before I could take some measurements, but it did gain some good lift - and is much firmer going around corners which I really like!

Is this picture with the daystar 1.5 space in the rear?

It turned out good, I wish the front was just a hair higher but I really think 1.75" would have been too much if I ever had any gear in the trunk or people in the rear seats.

The truck rides so much better too. Very happy.

Currently running 265/65 Revos, I'm going to step up to 265/70s when they wear out.

If you ever consider the fj springs, Herr they are at 1.75" setting with 5100's and a 1" cornfrd spacer. Rides great.

Are you guys running 5100's in the rear as well or just the front? Trying to figure out what i need to do for my ride

Welcome to T4R Cody! Most people when upgrading to the 5100 set up will get the package which will come with the front adjustable shocks, and the rear shocks. I plan on doing this swap in 2-3 weeks, keeping the existing stock coils in both front and back. I have a Daystar spacer lift currently and will keep the 1.5" spacer in the rear. There are many ways to go about switching to the 5100s, and it looks like you were searching around and found this thread from a while back. I would also suggest looking at the sticky thread at the top of the first page for the FJ suspension swap. TONS of good info there as well!

Darwalk, Did you do your lift? any chance you could tell me the change in height from before and after? my '16 sr5 measures 20" right now from center of the front wheel to top of the wheel well (bottom of fender), I am planning to put adjustable height 5100s on the front and 1.5" spacers with 5100s on the back. Trying to decide between the .85 and 1.75 settings for the fronts...I kinda like a bit of rake and I don't want the whole rig getting much more than 3" taller.

I went through the same issue. My loose measurements made it seem like .85 was the way to go to level it out but I did 1.75 and don't regret it. It seemed like the suspension did settle a bit as well so while I did raise the front 1.75 over stock, it probably is less than that. Haven't remeasured but it definitely looked much taller right after the install. I've since put a few thousand miles on it and really enjoy the view/angle much more over stock. This is with stock springs.

If your putting a 1.5" spacer in the rear you will want it at 1.75 imo. I did the fj springs all around and .85 on the front and it maintained a slight rake still after settling in. With a spacer I think you might end up with too much rake if you went with .85.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm looking for some help.
Can anyone help me confirm the 5100's are fine to use on the Sport Edition V8 with the XREAS suspension?
Any experience with 4wheelparts.com?
I'm not sure which 5100 group to purchase that gives the front +.85" and keeps the rear the same as discussed on this thread. I'm not looking to upgrade springs from stock.
Thanks!

My friend recommended me to get the Bilstein 5100s, he said I can raise it even with the stock springs? I wanted to see if you would be able to give me some insight on how that works?

It's been a week. Have you installed them?
I just ordered a set. I'll be installing this weekend if I have a chance. If you want I can take a ton of picks and show you step by step.

Also, you can check out demos of the shock from bilstein themselves. They show you how you install the shock and how you get the lift with the stock shocks.

Yea, just installed and it turned out great. Now I'm figuring tires to put on. It looks like everyone is doing 265/70R17. I want to go as big as possible without any rubbing. Any advice?

Guys, I love the look after using the daystar 2.5/1.5 spacers but I need new shocks so I'm going with the Bilstein 5100's all around. Which setting should I use on Bilstein when going for the daystar look? Do I need a spacer in back?

Did you ever get an answer to this?

I'm currently on a stock 2009 T4R Sr5 and I'm looking into purchasing 5100s. I'm curious as to whether I will need a spacer or rear coil in addition to the 5100's.

Originally I was just going to go with Daystar 2.5/1.5, but after reading through the thread I'm leaning more towards purchasing 5100s instead.

EDIT : The original springs that I would lose under flex were my stock 4 Runner springs. The FJ's are all longer... I used a '13 FJ spring

I switched up to the longer spring FJ spring as the original springs would come out of the perch when in flex...
