Curious, why would you spend thousands on a nice 4runner then rattle can the wheels instead of getting them powder coated? Just wondering.
Here is his answer to your question (Post #18):
Yeah I really did think of powdercoating, but there are 3 reasons that I decided to do it myself rather than getting them PCed.
1) Cheaper
2) I was not sure if black wheels would look good on my truck, so why waste that money on powdercoating.
3) The biggest advantage many point out in powdercoating is the strength of the paint, but I figure my wheels will get damaged, and the sort of scratches I will get (from off roading) are just as likely to occur on powdercoated wheels than my rattle canned wheels. Plus mine would be far easier to fix![]()
