ok so i was reading up on the blue wire diff lock mod and i am a little co fused on which end of the wire i'm grounding. The end coming from the harness? Or the end coming from the plug? Just need some clarification. Thanks
was actually the first mod I've done on my runner, spliced the blue and red wire coming from the harness and just ground it out, I used a grey wire since I originally found this mod on a Tacoma forum lolI am also getting ready to do this mod. Is there any disadvantage to being able to use diff lock in 2Hi and 4Hi ? Extra stress to locker? I won't be cutting the 5mph wire though
I have to disagree. IMO the locker is more useful in 2wd than it is in 4low. In 2wd locked you go pretty far without having to use 4wd. If your in 4low it's a lot less likely you need to turn the locker on unless your stuck or on real tough spot on the trail. It doesn't hurt a thing to do this mod and only makes the purpose of the locker more functional. I believe toyota designed it this way because they don't want the average guy girl locking up the rear on pavement in 2wd.
Well besides the fact that anyone who does this mod is basically bypassing the Toyota design. And for what?
I have to see much evidence that Toyota designed it wrong.
I say leave it alone. My eLocker works great and no need for the change.
