OK, just checking, but I am curious if you get any whistling or other noise with the at highway speeds?

Not sure about the wind noise since the wife is always driving the damn thing. I'll have to give it a try on the freeway.

WHEELS AND TIRES AND STEPS OH MY!

Did a mock fit of the new wheels and tires. Holy crap I'm in love. Such a good looking wheel. It's a shame it was just a test fit. Won't be putting them on till I lift the truck a bit. Didn't rub while sitting in the driveway (full turn) but I'm sure driving down the road would be a different story. I like the stance in the back so I may just add the Bilsteins all around, 1" spacer in the rear and set the front to 2.5". We'll see.

Also added the N-Fab slider steps. These things are nice! This is what Toyota should be installing on the SR5/Trail models.

Specs of the wheels and tires:

- Level 8 "MK6" in matte bronze
- 17x8"
- -10mm offset
- Falken Rocky Mountain ATS tires in LT285/70/17

With or without the center cap? I HATE HATE HATE the "8" logo so I ordered some 3.5" TRD decal from fleaBay. We'll see how it looks. I like the flat cap design, but not the fugly logo. I also don't really like how it looks without the cap since there's no cool Aisin hubs sticking out

And if I weren't planning on selling my Nissan I'd put the 4Runner wheels on it. I love the Trail wheels and I think it'd look great on the Frontier!

It's usually the person behind the camera that makes the picture. :thumb: Granted nowadays you have to give credit to the tech in these cameras and the ease of use in post processing.

Awesome! Let's see some full-truck pics I think I'm gonna paint the cap gray then put the TRD decals over it. Not sure if I like the cap being the same color as the wheels.

The front has 4 clips which you can barely see from the back but they're hard to reach. I removed it by prying a small screwdriver underneath the emblem then slowly lifting it away until the clips released.

The rear is attached with adhesive. Best thing you can do is use a blow dryer or heat gun to slightly warm it up then start peeling it away slowly. I actually bought another emblem and painted that one, didn't want to deal with having to re-attach this one with double sided tape. Part number for the rear Toyota logo is 75432-06030, paid about $10 on fleaBay.

Damn! This vehicle is my inspiration. I have a silver 2014 SR5 4runner. Just pulled the trigger today on the Nfabs and and going to get the leather installed as well. Love the look of the bigger tires & rims. How did they affect the ride and MPG?

Thanks! Can't answer that yet though. Tires just went on for a test fit. Hope to order the lift within the next week so I can run the larger tires. And then we'll see what it does to MPGs

Real easy. Peel back the fender lining and it's two screws to remove them. The passenger side will have a plastic shield over the light you'll have to pop off.

TAILLIGHT TINTING

Another thing that bothered me about this truck, the bright chrome taillights, well at least the upper portion. It looks good on light colors but on the mag gray I think it's way too bright. I debated getting it wrapped in a smoke vinyl or having a shop spray it with a tinted clear coat, but I decided to give the DIY route a go using the same Vans spray I used on my fog lights.

In all, it came out okay. I'm not too crazy about it because it has a brownish/gold tint to it. Would be perfect if it was a pure smoke color. I think I'll try to buff it out with some polish to see if I can make it glossy like the fog lights. If not, no worries. This stuff comes off easy with a solvent and I may have a shop do it.

Even though it's not how I wanted it to look I am much happier looking at this than the bright chrome.

Also did a quick spray on the new wheel's center caps using the same paint I used on the logos. I think it will look good. Anything better than that '8' logo!

Incidentally could you tint the reflector and not the outside lens? Hadn't ever seen that done but thought it might look cool.

I also have the Mag Gray, but I love the chrome accents on the tails. I think it's one of the distinctive features on the new tail lights, and I think it looks great when combined with the silver bumper trim on the Trail, but to each his own.
