At certain times I have to do a double take cause 90% of the 4Runners sitting at the dealership where silver, maybe Toyota made a mistake on the paint orders and instead of agreeing to say a million gallons of Titanium Metallic they got 10 million

The problem I had was that all 4Runner colors look "good."
I liked Stratosphere Mica and Black, but didn't want the maintenance or heat of a dark color.
Of the lighter colors, Gold was not available on the Sport; Titanium was too common (not just on 4Runners, but on cars in general); and I was rather neutral on Natural White.
Years ago, I would have sworn that I would never buy a white car as white = boring. It just so happened that my dealer had a White Sport that had just arrived at the dock, equipped exactly the way I wanted. I liked how the white contrasted with the black and silver trim, so that's what I got.

i had a 2000 SR5 Sport in black and it was awesome. the whole (almost) monochromatic look was very striking, but it was impossible keeping it clean. when i lived at home i washed it twice a week. then when i moved to DC and lived in apt. w/ no garage, i basically gave up. if i washed it, next day it would dusty or spotty. especially with dew and if there was a lot of pollen in the air. it would turn the black to a green-ish color.
my 2004 is silver. i see a lot of 4Gs in silver and i'm kinda bummed i didn't get black. but i knew i'd be moving to a new place and didn't want to deal w/ trying to keep it clean all the time. next 4runner i get i think will def. be black though. too bad they don't make a black pearl like they did for the old Tacoma's

i wanted black, but got silver. whenever i see a black one, i wish we had got black. whenever i look closely at ours and see the scratches from off-roading, i am glad that we got silver.
i really use my runner, for hauling, camping, off-roading, you name it. if you plan on really using yours as well and don't want to see the damage that you have inflicted, go with silver - if you are going to baby it, get black. you won't regret it.

Being a perfectionist, I would go absolutely insane with a black 4Runner. Every dusty/dirty spot, every door ding would drive me nuts.
Plus, I'm happy with how my truck looks when it's all clean and polished, and I like the fact that it doesn't attract people wanting to write "wash me" on it if I get busy and don't have time to keep it spic and span.

I've got black, and I've noticed some dulling of the paint on the rear pillars... have had to buff it to get the shine back... not sure if it's due to residue or sun damage... While I love the look of the rig when it's clean, I'm sometimes tempted to trade in and start over with Salsa Red w/ a vanity plate that reads "HIOFFCR"...

The rear pillar/spoiler happens to me. Nothing to worry about as the polish/wax shines it back up.

Stay away from the galactic gray. It just dosen't look good. You will be kicking yourself later. Definetly, go with either silver or black, but not galactic gray.

Buy the Galactic Gray. It's sorta like black and silver combined! It has the higher gloss reflective look like black does, but with the easier upkeep of silver. It's the best of both worlds.
i couldn't agree more that it's def. a mix of silver + black. but, someone that works in the same complex as i has one, and i noticed that if it isn't kept spotless the color tends to look a little purple if there's some grime on it. i've noticed it on a few on the road too if the sun is hitting it a certain way. i still like the color though and i almost got it myself being it's an inbetween for black + silver
