Camping in New Hampshire with the 4Runner (PICS!)

Hey everyone, just figured I would post up some pics of the camping trip last weekend.

We went up to the Kangamangus Highway in NH and stayed a couple of nights. lots of scenery. no offroading this time though.

Funniest part of the whole trip was at 6 in the morning when my wife tried to unlock the 4runner from the inside. needless to say the alarm woke up some sleeping hung-over Canadian campers!

Cool pics, looks like fun and great weather! :trophy:

Spent some time in Acadia National Park (Maine) a couple years ago and really enjoyed my time there. Didn't have my runner with me for some off road adventuring though. :bash:

Looks like a fun trip!
I camp in my Runner a fair bit. surprised you had a comfy sleep with 2 people and a dog. I set mine up alone and with some gear inside, only problem is I'm about 4 inches too long when laying down! makes it a little cramped length wise.

My wife and I are both 5'7". It was a perfect fit. Out feet barely touched the rear door. The wheel wells mde it a little tight but it wasn't any different than her falling asleep on my shoulder. If you're the type of person that likes to sprawl out, then I would definitely reconsider. We both layed flat and straight and it was fine. The dog usually sleeps at our feet so no change there either. I considered leaving him outside but the wife quickly stopped that. He's like our kid!

Awesome stuff! One thing I'm considering setting up is a screen for my back hatch window (Bugs here are something wild) I find come morning thing are so stuffy and damp its gross. it would be nice to be able to have the back window down on nice nights.

It's Jon Lovitz on SNL as Evelyn Quince, host of "Tales of Ribaldry". One of the CLASSIC characters from the old days. Check it out on Hulu.

The screen over the windows was a great idea. You could put stick on velcro around the windows and make a velcro screen to match, then you wouldn't have to fold it around the doors.
 
I was thinking about supergluing some magnets on to the fiberglass screen, but didn't have time, so I just hung the screen over one of the rear passenger windows and the rear door window. This allowed for good cross flow. I just put some water bottles on the roof to hold them up there. We didn't notice any dampness in the morning. I'll probably make a nice cut to shape magnetic screen before the next trip though, cause we looked pretty white trash with the bottles on the roof!

Same! I'm 6'2 and diagonal is the closest I can com to stretching out but its still nice having the option to sleep back there.

Did you guys take out the bottom section of the rear seats? If you take those out when it gives you a lot more room. Its over 6'4" from the back to the front cargo box.
 
Yeah I've read about taking out the bottom seats, but it wasn't necessary for us. I believe there is a quick release kit for sale by Sonoran? Maybe? But I could easily fab something up just as well. I liked having the bottom seats though so my pillows wouldn't fall to the floor.

i took netting from home hardware cut it to the size of each window (back two passengers and the rear hatch) then just bought small round magnets about the size of a dime. Works perfect, haven't glued anything together but you could also sew the magnet into the net. I just placed about 4-6 on each window spaced out
