Cat Converter Theft Prevention?

Hello All,

I signed up for one of those forum websites that is about one's surrounding communities.

2/3 of the posts on there are about thefts, burglaries, vandalism, and the growing homeless population and encampments.

I find myself getting a bit paranoid, and I am wondering --

1. has anyone taken any cat converter theft prevention measures? Eg. alarm, welding, cable basket (super expensive) or other ? ? ?

2. Does a skid plate cover the CC? One of the CC items for sale online says it also protects your transmission.

My area also has cats stolen nightly and as a lifted car parked outside nightly, I’m an easy target. Initially I wanted to get full skids and the addition for the cat shield. But full skins is not what I wanted atm.

I opted for the is cat shield. Works like a charm.

A neighbor with a Tacoma 2 houses down from me was hit by a cat thief last Thursday. Cops say that about 3 others were targeted that same night. I went ahead and ordered the RCI trans skid plate with the cat shields to go with my RCI skid plate. Definitely looking forward to installing as a deterrent.

I got my cat protection from talons garage.

I ended up getting the 304 stainless steel from Miller Cat. It covers where you'd cut to steal to the cat but leaves enough open area for cooling.

Yup, fitted that one myself last night. It was my first time to do anything under the car, I could not for the life of me get the last bolt on for the under engine cover. After about 40 minutes of exertion, I finally figured to loosen the other side a bit rather than tighten that :biggrin2:

Happy now though. Even though I started off too by catching my elbow on one of the hot pipes from the cat lol.
