Clear LED 3rd Brake light pics!!!!!

I bought one of the LED 3rd brake light units, and installed it over my Christmas break (I've been very bust since then). I ordered the red one. It matches the LED tails very well, especially since it has two rows of four LEDs across which is the same number across as the tails have.

I peeled the foam tape seal off of the factory light and put it on the LED unit. Also, I checked and the factory lens DOES fit this aftermarket housing, so if you wanted to, you could use the faceted factory lens. After looking at both, I decided the translucent red lens that came with the LED unit looks better though, as the faceted factory one diffuses the LED light too much and doesn't look too much different than stock using a bulb.

So you had to add resistors?

I had to add a single resistor when I put my LED tails in.

Yeah, I followed that other thread on the ABS light.

Why did you decide to put the resistors on your tail lights instead of the 3rd break light?

Well, I added the LED tails WELL before doing the LED 3rd. I guess at the time I didn't think about the 3rd being on the same circuit.

Might have made it a bit easier, but I don't know if it would be good to mount the resistor up inside of the hatch behind the 3rd (not to mention it would be tough working in such a confined space). You really should mount the resistor in a way that it sinks the heat from it since it gets so dang hot. Don't think it would agree with the paint too well.

It actually works pretty well where I mounted it. The location keeps it pretty safe from burning anything, has air all around it, plus the steel pulls off some of the heat.
