Pulled the harmonic balancer.

The original harmonic balancer failed 10+ years ago. Ran a Dorman unit for a long time, but it had a rough casting where the crank seal meets the pulley, and resulted in a slow leak. Replaced it with a used OEM unit, but it also vibrated. Finally just ordered a new OEM unit.

Cleaned the throttle body.

Removed the old LCE teflon gasket and going back to OEM.

Hood prop clip was broken on both ends. New ones from Toyota.

Full aluminum Koyorad. Purchased new in the box from SIKHILUXSURF.

Hoses secured with T-bolt clamps

New radiator cap

The wheels on the truck are too shiny, not the right look for me. Thought about painting them, but never got around to it. On a MKIV Supra parts run at the dealer, they happened to have a set of gray TRD Pro wheels in stock. Takes me back to the days of having the gray Tundra wheels.

Speaking of my old wheels - I saw them the other day!! They’re on another Imperial Jade 3rd Gen. Brought back memories!! That spoiler is pretty sweet too. Might have to find one of those.

Not too long after seeing the above spoiler, I scored an OEM JDM rear spoiler from SIKHILUXSURF. Imperial Jade and faded, a PERFECT match if you ask me.

These days, Rubicons and some Broncos come stock with 285/70/17 BFG AT KO2. I found a woman selling a full set of 5 tires on OfferUp from her Rubicon, she had upgraded to 35’s. $500! SCORE!

Excited to upgrade my old spare, a 265/70/17 from 2006 on a GX470 wheel. Have had it for 10+ years, it’s been useful on many vehicles, my trailer, etc.

The rack rusted up after about a year, so I’m taking a new approach to painting it. This time I’m using POR15 Top Coat. Instead of a spray, this will be applied with a brush. Time consuming, but less wasteful and more coverage. I started with Eastwood rust encapsulator, but I didn’t order enough, and since they are on backorder, so I opted to finish the job with POR15 in gloss black. I am actually really really enjoying the gloss black and might use this on the bumpers and sliders later on.

Loose rust removed with wire wheel. Didn’t go too deep into prep considering the paint is designed to encapsulate and seal off surface rust.

First test. Looking nice. Really outperformed my expectations. This product should do the job nicely.

Decided it would be best to start with the bottom of the rack and move to the top later on. Haven’t finished it yet, but will get that done and mounted and post pics later on.

Been feeling renewed about the ol’ 3rd gen and been taking it to the trail more often. Just put new end links on the front sway bar and managed to do something I’ve NEVER thought possible.

Getting flexy on a nice uphill rutty technical spot when the sway bar SNAPPED! I’m blown away. Metal fatigue is real lol. Good thing I’ve got two more in my parts stash.

And that brings this build thread up to present day, and soon will be updated with completed rack photos, a sway bar swap, and probably some other stuff. This is the most of it for now. Thanks to anyone who took the time to check out the build thread. This truck might not be the same as it used to be as far as cleanliness, but I'm having a ton of fun with it, so I'm happy with that. I have an Imperial Jade MKIV Supra to keep looking clean, now, which is much more rewarding to baby than babying a 4WD SUV.

I know this is for a 2001 (3rd generation) but would the process be similar for a second generation (1994)? I am assuming the second generation will have less electronic parts and should be straightforward? I.e.: I take the AWD components from a second generation and put them on the existing RWD 1994?
