Wow, James!!
I saw this thread pop up in the "Recent Threads" sidebar on the RH side of the forum and decided to have a look. I remember checking it out a few times early on when you were still planning on selling the rig. Having just browsed my way through the entire thread, I've got to say I'm glad that you kept it.
You really are good at this, man. You've done an amazing job restoring that 4Runner. Reading through a restoration thread, rather than a build thread was an interesting change of pace. I'm so used to seeing nice parts added to already nice vehicles (3rd gens). There's nothing like seeing a classic Toyota saved from the smelter and restored to it's former glory. You've really become a master at transforming 4Runners.

(Now that you've got it registered, you should get an on-road acceleration video and show us all what it sounds like when that turbo spools up w/the new exhaust)

the w56 will be more than strong enough, the r151 trans was overkill for the turbo motor... the turbos really didnt add that much more power maybe like 20 more hp in stock form. i have never seen a w56 fail from anything other than abuse, and typically what will fail is the bearings but thats just from age, and its a simple fix.
COB i wish i was closer, id take the whole truck off your hands after you got your parts you wanted, it would be a sweet donor truck for my 85 xtra cab. and id love to make a trailer out of the bed to go with my truck... you lucky dog you!

Once an R151 makes an appearance into my life, the W56 will do fine. The transmission is definitely durable, it doesn't have to deal with much power anyway. I like the R151 for the granny gear, and I like the idea of having an R-series transmission in both of my trucks.
I have a friend with an R151 swapped into his pickup, he has been complaining about the granny gear. He's been thinking of swapping to the W56 instead. I'll try to trade him haha.

Not sure what brand the brush guard is. It's for sale, though! Haha, the rear bumper most likely, too, but I'm still thinking about it. The trailer may look incomplete without it.

Tell you what though, I've been waiting for the kitchen sink mod for years. I'll make a video of the exhaust when I see some dishes get washed in your rig lol. Truth is, after the engines broken in and the boost/vacuum leaks are gone, a video will happen.
PS: It won't be with an automatic.

Your rig is damned sexy, my favorite 2nd gen by far.
I hate it when they don't ask which way you'd prefer the lettering. I ended up with white letters on my 3rd gen once because of that. It was very short lived.

Agreed. The synchros are fine in the donor trans, so I'm happy. That's more than I can say for the 3rd gen, which has a bad 3rd gear synchro. It won't grind if you shift it slowly. Keep me posted if you want any particular parts for your 85!
Hey, if it's any consolation, that truck was parked outside my house last night. The owner was sitting in my truck at a point, too. Hi Matt!
Sure would have loved to spot your 1st gen. I was out in the turbo truck at that time, just on the 5 driving between Alicia and Avery.

I've had barely any time, though I finally got to taking the truck apart.
