$200 and 72 hours? That's a steal! Sucks the price gap doesn't extend to 4Runners, at least you got something local.

As for the guy who makes his own biodiesel for his hiluxes... lucky bastard! Haha I might have to hightail it to Canada if things go sour in the US. Never been to Canada before.

I've always loved the condition of the vehicles from California, even if its dented or well driven, even 15yrs on, the bolts aren't rusted and fused!
Back in the 80's, a friend of mine (for his 16th) had his dad import a Mustang California Special --- a 67' I think, V8 3spd on the floor. If I remember right, they got it for a meager $2500... I had the pleasure of working on it and the bolts and fittings were as if it had been assembled yesterday. Not a spot of rust! Unfortunately, my idiot friend totaled it within 6 mos, as well as his dads' Lancia Beta!!
I've traveled a lot in N. America and there are some differences wrt the environment and the back country trails between Canada and the USA.
The obvious difference is the number of people! There's 40% more people in California than in all of Canada, and the majority of Canadians live East of Lake Winnipeg and within 100mi of the border! The first thing that struck me, the first time across the line, was the size of the cities and the industry. Canada has little industry in the West, and much smaller communities. On the road, there seems to be rest areas and camp grounds everywhere and a highway leading in every direction. If you require camping facilities or parks (We loved this when we had young kids) there are plenty of options--- ie. Yellowstone or Yosemite, Shasta etc. It appeared to me you had to really get off the track to find places that didn't have evidence of other people. As my Wife is British, we find ourselves drawn to the US. We really love Utah and California and have future plans of touring NM and CO.
In Western Canada, if you're into primitive back country camping (and wheeling), you don't have to go far here, to get it. I've been up to mountain lakes where we didn't see anyone else, for our entire camp stay. If you like space and primitive (rustic) places, this is it.

In a few weeks we'll be heading out on our last road trip with the kids... We plan on a stop in SF and down to LA. This will be the last visit to Disney! Next year my youngest will be (hopefully) working so my Wife and I can go it alone! I would like to take my 4Runner to UT,CO,NM... we'll see what the Captain says!!

I had no idea the population was so low compared. That sounds like a great place to be, with space and beautifully undisturbed nature to boot.

The gremlins... they visited me!

Done with the timing cover job, two days later

- low vacuum (-19, then it got to -13)
Checked throttle body, checked all vacuum lines, didn't find much. It ended up being one of the hard plastic vacuum lines that slipped out of a rubber line.

- EGR malfunctioning
Checked throttle body "E" port, definitely plugged up, rust evident
Removed throttle body, attempted cleaning with compressed air and brake cleaner, no luck.
Swapped throttle body with that of the 88 donor truck

Removed the adjustment screw for the dashpot. I'm missing the vaccum filter that attaches to the end. Will reinstall when I find a junkyard part.

I almost did, but the Toyota dealerships don't pay as well as MBZ dealers. I still get a good discount on Toyota parts so I'm happy

One day I've gotta get in touch with TRD though, I would quit MBZ for a job with TRD in a heartbeat.












My corrugated copper tube lower coolant pipe developed a leak from rubbing up against the frame steering stop thing... it's been soldered and is back in operation. I sliced an old shock bushing and slid it over the metal point.

I should be getting a move on the trailer cutting soon. I'll have to source some leafs and shackles again, it's gonna be a little bit before it's rolling.

Basically the process will be reinstalling the bed, getting it rolling as a "half vehicle", then get the front section and tongue welded.











My Supra is eating up all my mod funds. Motor is already completely ready for removal, it's just sitting until I actually get around to it. The targa top, rear bumper, and folding JDM mirrors are in paint right now...
