Much respect, I dont know how you keep up with all the cars you have. I got my 4runner and the others got put on hold. Nice choice on the viper I have it sitting in a box ready for install. I only put my gear into reverse when on a slope so I am going to use that auto start.

Where did you find your seat covers? I'm particularly interested in the ones you have on the back seats. I was about to drop some major coin on custom covers but if you have a cheaper solution, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I haven't been keeping up with them as much as I should, my Supra taking all the glory. Yeah Vipers are good alarms for sure. As far as remote start, kudos to you for having the balls to do it on a manual, haha.
Hey, thank you. I bought mine on eBay for cheap, honestly, I can't even find the link anymore. They're cheapies and do the job for me. Spent around 20 for them.

Nothing new on the ol girl... needs an oil change, been lazy on that. Has been spending more time sitting than anything.
It's not forgotten though, working on the matching trailer
Axle is ordered and being made - 6x5.5 pattern with 60" hub face. 3" diameter tube.
Also awaiting arrival of shock mounts, U-bolts, and u-bolt plates.
Picking up leafs from a stock 4Runner as well.
Here's the progress...
3rd gen pulling a flatbed to get the beams.
20' long 4" C channel, cut in half. Half of a Toyota pickup short bed frame.
Trimmed both ends to make it even.
Cutting of the first piece.
3x3 square tube to get the coupler located and A frame going.
30 degree pie cut on the beams, 12" slides into the frame rails. Two cuts made in the side of the frame to give structural welds.
All welded up and ready for paint. Coupler nuts welded in frame. The fuel tank mounts are still present so the stock fuel tank can be used to hold an extra 15 gallons.
SEM Trim Black.
The fuel tank mount has a support welded to the C channel crossbeam.

I've been obsessed with these trucks for a long time, and while endlessly searching first gen 4runners on google images I found this thread. I've read it TWICE (obsessed, like I said). I found an unmolested 85 4runner from Redding, CA a few weeks ago, and finally pulled the trigger. Can't wait to get it.
I have a few quick questions regarding the SEM Color Coat Landau Black that you used to paint the trim pieces. Did you also use their SEM plastic prep, or just clean each piece, and spray? Also, the two rear pieces over the rear wheel wells, do they just pop off, or did you paint them in place, just masking off the paint? Again, sick truck, and thanks for the inspiration.

Finally caught up on this post. Looks great! keep up the good work! What are your future plans for the trailer? Is it going to be red and match the 4Runner?

The trailer most likely will eventually be painted red and receive matching gold stripes. Far down the to-do list, though. The 4Runner will be on the 5 star 16's again, but with new tires. The trailer wheels will be matching.
Going to install the stock fuel tank in the trailer frame for an extra 15g of fuel, then a toolbox + 2 spare wheels on the front between bed and tongue (there's an extra bit of frame length just for that). Little things like trailer jack are implied.
Issue now is that I've buried myself with things to do. Might be a while. It's already hauled a few loads so as long as its functional, that's the main goal :thumb3:

Shoot. I kind of liked the other rims. I think its just because of the color though. Have you ever thought about painting the 5 stars black? I think it would look cool, especially on the trailer. I definitely want to see the progress/ help out next time I'm back in california. All your projects have my interest lol

So I got to page 4 of this thread, got anxiety that you would sell it and had to cheat and jump to the end to make sure you were keeping it or if I had to make you an offer on it.
The best thing about coming across completed build threads is it's like getting into an old show on Netflix. You can just binge watch the whole thing instead of waiting for the next new episode!
I also love finding build threads by locals so that I can find better shops to work with for my T4R.

It would be even easier to get another pair of black steelies, probably some Cragar soft 8's. They would match one of the wheels, lol. Only 3 wheels match on the truck, that's mainly why I want to go back to the 16's. The 15's were an opportunity, but I don't plan to buy any more 15" wheels or tires.
Black wheels are cool, but a bit overplayed IMO... I've always preferred gunmetal over black. Black hides the wheel too much... I guess that's a good thing when your wheels don't even match

The ol turbo truck has had a clutch master failure. The piston seal gave up.

Second smog test on the current motor. She's good for another 2 years. Come on CA, let's get this smog exemption rolling, eh?
That's it in the last few months. I drive it a few times a week. It serves no real purpose in my life other than being awesome. Cheap to maintain, cheap to smog, cheap to insure, that's good with me!

I just think it goes well with the color scheme but I agree, black wheels are over done. Hell, red and black is a little over done... I mean both of my cars had that theme when I got them and it bugs me. It's too much work for me to change either of them, especially the Firebird since half the car is literally painted like that. Oh well.
As far as the rig goes I'm sorry to hear bout the clutch cylinder. Hope it wasn't too much to replace. At least you passed smog. How's the whole exemption thing work?
