so I think I can actually make this. It's within my 300 mile distance limit (283 to be exact). My only issue (well there are many), because I came from the west coast, I wasn't able to pack any camping gear. Any suggestions in the tidewater area (I'm in Moyock, NC about 40 miles south of Norfolk) where I may be able to rent something? Other thing of course is a vehicle, I'll have to research this to see if I can find a truck or SUV for reasonable price. If not I'll just get some cheap car and go ride trails with someone else. If I can overcome the camping gear rental obstacle the rental car won't be an issue. Thanks in advance, hopefully I can make it.

There appears to be a few online places that rent gear. I'd think if you have an address they will rent gear to you. Give em a call and tell them your situation, they may be able to work something out as well.

Yeah if you pick up a sleeping bag im sure we can find tent space for you. im sure there is someone that doesn't have dogs that will lend some space.

All of my camping gear is back at my hunting camp in far SE VA and I'm not sure I'll be down that way to pick it up between now and then...

Wonder how much the girlfriend and dog will hate me if we attempt to spend a night or two in the back of the Runner. If it gets too bad she could single in the 5th and me in the 3rd

Thanks for the offers. Just got an updated schedule today and it looks like the one weekend I have to train on Saturday and Sunday (off Thursday and Friday) is that weekend. SOB! Closest I've been able to do this and still can't. Oh well, I'm looking forward to the pictures of the festivities.

For any newbies who like to camp but are unsure of trying out their truck on the trails... I was in your shoes last year. Your truck is more awesome than you think. There are really easy trails if you just want to do a little exploring but not get any scratches.

This is a laid back, no drama crew. If you can wade through the sarcasm and flatulence you'll have a great time. Just experiencing the Cove, makes the trip worthwhile.

I'll 2nd this. I went the first year, maybe 10 days after picking up my 5th Gen. Drove it just about everywhere. Still have some sweet pin-stripes, but a good time was had.
